  1. Yeah I am all good. People are really going to cop it tomorrow though. Its going to be brutal for some of them.
  2. Incredible amount of water. The office in which I work in the CBD is under a metre of water and it is going to get worse tomorrow. Feeling for all the people that have lost their houses to the flood and moreso for those that have lost their lives. Horrific scenes from Toowoomba especially, water is just so powerful.
  3. Cheers Kylie. Myself and my family are ok. Tomorrow should be interesting though as they are expecting it to go up another metre overnight. Unfortunate that it seems a lot of lives are going to be lost.

  4. Thanks everyone for the birthday messages. Much appreciated.

  5. Going to see 'The Town' tonight. Looking forward to it.
  6. Cheers, I've read a few of Marukami's other books and really enjoyed them so I'm sure I will love Kafka. Lisa Jewell's books are cool as well. Just good, easy reads.
  7. If you liked 'The House at Riverton' I see no way that you would not enjoy 'The Forgotten Garden'. They are both very good, and quite similar, but if I had to choose I would probably go with the latter as my preferred. Kate is just a great author.
  8. Finally finished 'The House at Riverton' by Kate Morton (titled 'The Shifting Fog' out here). It was enjoyable, perhaps not quite as much as the other Morton novel I have read, but I wish I could have had more time available so I could have read it over a shorter period of time. Still, a very good book. Kate's character development was excellent I thought, as it was in 'The Forgotten Garden'. Its an era I really enjoy reading about and I thought she described it very well. Next up I'm going to read another Haruki Marukami book - 'Kafka on the Shore'.
  9. Just finished 'Angel's Game' by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. I loved his writing style, but the book just fell apart for me towards the end. There was just way too much I couldn't get my head around/understand and also too many things left totally unanswered for me. My brother read it and he had similar feelings. He is a great author but I think Zafon let this one get a little out of control, particularly in the last 30/40 pages. I still gave it 7/10 though as I enjoyed it for the majority. I love his descriptive style. I am going to read 'The House at Riverton' (titled 'A Shifting Fog' out here) next.
  10. I am not into fantasy at all really but FWIW my brother loves fantasy and he has a deep obsession with the Wheel of Time series. Its his favourite and I think he has read each of the books several times.
  11. Avatar is the one that springs to mind immediately for me. I didn't enjoy that film at all.
  12. Enjoy the rest of it. Personally I thought it got better and better throughout.
  13. I loved The Forgotten Garden. I also own The House at Riverton, I just haven't got round to reading it yet. I'm sure its great though, Kate can really write. I am currently reading The Angel's Game by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. Almost half way through it, enjoying it so far, though probably not as much as The Shadow of the Wind.
  14. Inception. I have seen it twice in the last week, love it. Awesome, awesome film.
  15. Hey Roxi how's things?

I haven't been on much - things have been a bit mental with work so I just haven't been able to browse as much as usual. Hopefully settling down now though.

Everything is well my end. How are things with you? I see you have moved into a new apartment, how's that going?

    Tennis

Great couple of months from Rafa. Good to see him hit back so well after all his injury problems last season.

I'm rooting for Berdych to win but my pick is Murray. Unfortunately. Cannot stand that individual.

    World Cup 2010

Spain improved in the second half, particularly after Torres went off. To be honest as good as he is I think they should hook him for the rest of the tournament. He just isn't on him game. His injury lay-off in the lead up to the World Cup seems to have really impacted on him.

    World Cup 2010

Sure he scored a goal, but he isn't there to score goals he is there to defend, which he failed at, horribly.
  20. I'm not sure you should. While I really enjoyed the book I did form the opinion while reading it that it was the type of book you either really like or really don't like. I think that if you are around half way through it and are not enjoying it its probably just best to ditch it and move on.

    World Cup 2010

God England were dreadful. Just woeful. Shocking performance from several of the players. I have no idea how Upson even found himself in the squad given his performances over the past 12 months let alone the starting line up. Also, how slow is Gareth Barry? I mean, I have always known he was totally rubbish but I never realised just how slow he is. Glen Johnson was defensively woeful as expected. Also, how Hart didn't get a start at this world cup is beyond me, he is so clearly England's number 1 keeper at the moment.

    The French Open

Yep, FedExpress halted by Soderling. Robin has been playing amazingly well though, as has Tomas Berdych. That should be one hell of a semi-final.

    The French Open

Roger had another easy win over compatriot Stan Wawrinka last night. Berdych thrashed Andy Murray as well in straight sets.

    The French Open

Haha, the blazers are ridiculous. Can't go past Federer though. Best player of all time going away IMO. Even now, when he is about 60% of what he used to be, he is still clearly the best player in the world. Incredible player.
