    Hello

Not sounding weird at all. Welcome to BCF! We're happy you've joined us!
  2. I love hearing about all of these! A few of them are sitting on my shelf, waiting to be read... I have a feeling they just went up higher on the list. I'm going with Room by Emma Donoghue as my favorite so far.
  3. I've not yet read it. I HEARD it wasn't as good as "The Glass Castle," but I'm betting I'll probably pick it up at some point just to see what I think. Have you heard any reviews one way or the other?
  4. Hi Everyone, Since we're through half of the year now, I thought it would be fun to hear about everyone's favorite book from this first half of the year! Go through your lists of "read" books and let us know which one you love the most.
  5. Hi Viktoria... Welcome!
  6. Welcome back! =) People are stealing your cookies, though.
  7. Glad to hear you liked 'Sepulchre' as it's in my bookshelf, also, and just haven't given it a go. Sounds like there are a lot of in this same boat with this book. I might need to give it a try soon!
  8. I tried putting raspberries in it, but they got all warm and soggy.. Yuck. Also tried peanut butter in it, which I didn't like. Don't know why I don't just find another breakfast food.
  9. So great, right?! It was hard to put down towards the last half!
  10. Only boring because I eat it EVERY SINGLE WEEKDAY! But you're right... as long as I don't forget the salt, it's not bad at all!
  11. I have oatmeal each morning, and take my vitamins... Boooring, but healthy for me, and keeps me on track for lunch and snacks during work.
  12. Looking forward to a relaxing evening of 'The Bachelorette' and some knitting :)

  13. Finished The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls last night... Great book! On to Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins.
  14. Borrowed "Pictures of You" by Caroline Leavitt from the library... for my in-person book club.
  15. Making my way through Bel Canto, and picked up The Poisonwood Bible today.
  16. Hi, and welcome! If you haven't delved into James Patterson's books, they're usually a reliable choice. Many are series as well, so if you love a certain character/detective, there are usually more to follow.
  17. Just starting "Bel Canto" by Ann Patchett... Anyone read this?
  18. I have Forbidden Daughter by Shobhan Bantwal on my shelf, but haven't read it as of yet. My MIL read it and really liked it, so hopefully I'll get around to it at some point.
  19. I've had 'Memoirs of a Geisha' a while and haven't read it -- Since I use the library a lot and moved around a bit, I don't have TOO many super old books that I've owned a long time. That makes 'Memoirs' it for me.
  20. Kell, I agree wholeheartedly with your review. Definitely one of the best books I've read in a while. Such a page-turner, I couldn't wait to see what happened to Jack and Ma next. I love the perspective of 5-year old Jack, since an adult perspective on this subject would have been so much more disturbing. I was sucked in from about page 30, and read it in two sittings. Loved it!
  21. I'm starting "The Crying Tree" from this list -- Hoping it's fabulous.
  22. How are you liking this so far? Finished "Room" by Emma Donaghue last night, now starting "The Crying Tree" by Naseem Rakha.
  23. I read 40 pages of "Revolution" by Jennifer Donnelly last night, and will read some more before bedtime tonight. Also added 4 of the Richard & Judy 2011 books to my TBR list (Thanks Zumii, for posting the list!).
  24. Zumii, Thanks for posting these! I already have "Room" but I've added these to my TBR list: Hothouse Flower - Linda Riley This Perfect World - Suzanne Bugler Trespass - Rose Tremain The Postmistress - Sarah Blake They look great! Anyone already read any of these?
