  3. Here's where I'll keep up with all of my reading for 2010! I completed approximately 48 books (give or take 1 or 2) in 2009... I know I probably won't get through quite as many this year now that I'm working again, but I hope to get through a decent number. For this year, I want to keep with a bit more info on the books I've read, including: Author, Title Number of pages Date Started, Date Completed and of course my thoughts on most of the books I read. I also have joined an in-person book club, so some of my reading list may go astray from my original wishlist to accommodate some of those books as well. I'll have a few posts/lists at the start of this thread: Books I've Read (with a small section avail for Attempted Books) Wishlist Books I Own (some of these will overlap with the wishlist) I'll weave in my thoughts on each book as the year progresses and I finish the books. As always, any thoughts/comments always welcome here! As Roxi learned a long time ago, you can even dance on my bookshelf if you're so inclined. (Taking a stab at risque dance is highly suggested... Keep me entertained, people.) Happy reading, everyone!
  4. I finished Ken Follett's "A Dangerous Fortune" yesterday, and am starting "The Help" today. I also borrowed a mystery by Janet Evanovich (will be my first book of hers) from the library since it was small and light and easy to cart around in my bag. We got three cookbooks from the bookstore today, too.. We're such suckers for cookbooks!
  5. Hoping to read a bit of Mary Kay Andrew's "The Fixer Upper" tonight.. it's such a fun book, I just haven't had much time to read lately! Hopefully I'll make some progress this evening.
  6. Not too much, Chuck! (hah.. only SORTA rhymed. ;) )

How are ya? Thanks for checking in on me! I've been all over the place -- I went to St. Louis, MO to pick up my kitty cat from a friend that kept him while we were overseas.. and I got the ojb I was interviewing for, and started work this past Monday! So far so good.. It's still in recruiting/staffing that I've been in for so long, so it's a good fit hopefully. :) All is well over here!

How are things on your side, buddy?

  7. Oooh glad to hear that after all!! Nice! :) I'll check out your review.. Thanks for letting me know!

  8. I see that one never got any better for ya, Inver. It was one of my faves.. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it as much! I finished Envy by Anna Godbersen, and have now started The Fixer Upper by Mary Kay Andrews -- Had lots of reading time on a plane today and will tomorrow, as well.
  9. Glad to see you enjoyed this one! It's the only one of the 3 part series that I haven't read, so happy to see it was your favorite Hope you're well!
  10. Hi Julia, and welcome! Glad to see you're already getting lots of suggestions and are settling in!
  11. Yeeeey! Glad you are liking it, Peace. I'm going to get it soon!
  12. I'll keep plodding along. :) Thanks for the encouragement!

  13. Dear Gawd, shoot me now.. I have now sent out 18 resumes and haven't heard a word. Now I know SOME of those are going to places where I'm definitely either overqualified or under-qualified, but there's a bunch in the middle that are going places where I'd definitely expect I'd be called? I've never had trouble finding a job before at ALL, and I have to admit (humbly) that although it's not perfect, my resume is pretty strong. I'm going to start freaking out soon...

  14. OMG I have no idea how you figured out what was going on in Grave Sight. I really like her Harper books, but my only complaint is that I feel like she uses too many convoluted and confusing family relationships (like.. 'half' step siblings and twice removed cousins?) to make it difficult to figure out the mystery. I much prefer to be confused by good plotting rather than just buried in a mound of confusing family relations. Now, I promise.. I really DO like the books.. I've read 2 of the 3 and hope to get the 3rd. But I did say that this post was my only COMPLAINT, so don't think I didn't like them.
  15. Absolutely! I was going to do the same thing but you beat me to it ;)

  16. Bribe 'em.. Best method! :);)

  17. Hi Paula! :) How are ya??

We are doing just fine over here.. all settled into our new home here in Manhattan, and now I'm working on the job search!

What's going on over there? Anything exciting?

  18. Wow! You did it big between 18 and 25.. Good for you! Aww.. too bad about your husband not being too keen on flying, but that's okay.. at least you live in the UK where close-by traveling, even by car, can be a great experience.
  19. I haven't been to Carmel, but have good to Baltimore.. I visited a friend that lived in Annapolis, and we went into Baltimore for a few days. I love that part of Maryland that's on the water and has all the harbours.. It's just gorgeous! You got to live in a great place. I'm from Alabama, but have also lived in St. Louis for 6 months, and Manhattan for 1 month and now we're back here for good in NYC again. I haven't lived in too many places in the US yet.. We'll see what happens later in life. Do you think you're mostly settled in England for a while now?
  20. I can't find the picture anywhere on that other thread? Hewp.
  21. LOL.. You said "Nannying -- of course!" That is great.. Too funny They like their nannies over here! What part of USA were you in? And where is home for you now?
  22. lol.. I think that's part of it! I have no kids, nor a clock ticking away! Lots of good moms on this forum, so understandably, could be a bit jarring for them... You are right.
