  1. I'm totally new to Manga, I didn't know where to start so I grabbed a random volume 1 from the library it was Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad. I'm now 4 volumes in really good stuff

Also read Full Metal Alchemist volume 1 which was very promising

  2. I am a big fan of westerns, especially those written by British authors in the 70s and 80s(some of George Gilman's Edge series have gone for about £50 on ebay) westerns are easy to pick up second hand on ebay and the like. As for new westerns I think they are still quite popular in America where long running series like the Gunsmith and Longarm are still published. The success of movies like Brokeback Mountain and True Grit can only help the literary Western authors

  3. I grew up next to Forest Hall library in Newcastle, my Mam still uses it to this day(40+ years). I've been a member of the local library where ever I've lived, Elgin was probably the best the staff were class, my current library here in Oz is also excellent

Libraries seem to be easy targets for council cuts, but to my mind they are an esential part of community life.

I love libraries long may they prosper.

  4. Sounds a interesting read JD, do you think you will read any more books by Brian Haig? :)

Finished Rumpole and the Age of Miracles by John Mortimer, Horace Rumpole is brill. 9/10

  5. Finished Secret Sanction by Brian Haig, a really exciting thriller about an U.S military lawyer investigating an alleged atrocity committed by U.S special forces in Kosovo. 9/10
