  1. Finished Dead Famous by Ben Elton, thoroughly enjoyable. March has been decent for me on the reading front, having previously read Game of Thrones. I have now started Carpe Jugulum by Terry Pratchett, my first by this author
  2. I have not been on here much recently due to the fact I don't read much these days. I'm currently reading a StarWars novel by Joe Schrieber and The Toon a history of Newcastle United. A contributing factor to my lack of reading is I'm actually learning to work in a library as library tech!
  3. Just found out about this, very sad. A favourite author of mine. I have been reading him since the early 80's and will continue to do so
  4. I'm totally new to Manga, I didn't know where to start so I grabbed a random volume 1 from the library it was Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad. I'm now 4 volumes in really good stuff Also read Full Metal Alchemist volume 1 which was very promising
  5. It's been some time since I last posted, but I've finished 2 books in the last month(first two of the year!) and I have read 75 pages of an Adam Nevill novel and also some poetry, so things might be looking up.
  6. Finished Knots and Crosses by Ian Rankin, excellent book very easy to read I look forward to more Rebus in the near future. Started Black Hats by Patrick culhane
  7. Finished Necroscope III:The Source by Brian Lumley, a fine addition to the series. I have decided to have a little rest from the Necroscope series (part IV is on its way from Blighty) I have started reading Knots and Crosses by Ian Rankin
  8. Finshed Necropescope II: Vamphyri! by Brian Lumley and started Necroscope III: the Source by the same author
  9. I am a big fan of westerns, especially those written by British authors in the 70s and 80s(some of George Gilman's Edge series have gone for about £50 on ebay) westerns are easy to pick up second hand on ebay and the like. As for new westerns I think they are still quite popular in America where long running series like the Gunsmith and Longarm are still published. The success of movies like Brokeback Mountain and True Grit can only help the literary Western authors
  10. Finished Necroscope by Brian Lumley. I really enjoyed this book, a vampire horror set during the during the cold war. I have now started Necroscope II:Vamphyri also by Brian Lumley
  11. I grew up next to Forest Hall library in Newcastle, my Mam still uses it to this day(40+ years). I've been a member of the local library where ever I've lived, Elgin was probably the best the staff were class, my current library here in Oz is also excellent Libraries seem to be easy targets for council cuts, but to my mind they are an esential part of community life. I love libraries long may they prosper.
  12. Picked up 22 second hand books from the local Library (Capalaba, fantastic library)for $5.50 thats about 4 quid, not a bad little haul
  13. The Pariah by Graham Masterton was really unsettling.
  14. Happy Birthday!

  15. Finished Summer Knight:BK4 of the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher and I have now started Quake by Richard Laymon.
