  1. Just caught up on this week's episode, so glad my favourite is in for another week
  2. I loved A Little Life but I was quite glad to read something happier and easier after. --- I'm still very slowly making my way through American Gods by Neil Gaiman. It's not that I'm not enjoying it, it just feels a bit long-winded. I did accidentally pick up the special long edition so that probably doesn't help!
  3. I love Montalbano (the younger one) It is! I don't know many people who watch it. I'm slightly behind on it at the moment, but I love it. --- I'm currently watching Downtown Abbey a lot - Amazon Instant has it through their Prime video subscription so I'm making use of mine.
  4. Hello! I've done it, I have a letter with updates (a few!) - is your address the same? <3

I'm not, but everything including new address is in the letter, which I'll post tomorrow <3 Still same town though, I love it too much here :)

  5. I can't believe we're almost halfway through October Really busy at work and with studying, though I'm slowly getting back in a routine. So far October hasn't been too eventful thankfully.
  6. I think I might be able to join at least partly I have some studying to do as well, so I plan on dividing my time between that and reading.
  7. I was very excited to read this just because it's another Harry Potter book. For this only, I liked it, I enjoyed reading about all the characters I loved while I was growing up. Not a fan of the plot to be honest, and I really didn't like Albus at all! I guess because of the format you can't get enough details and context, which I think would have made it more enjoyable for me. Still, it was part of the Harry Potter world, can't deny it put me in a good mood.
  8. Very windy, I don't like it at all. It definitely feels like autumn.
  9. I prefer physical books, I just like the feel of them and seeing a proper cover. However, I absolutely love my Kindle and on holidays it's great. There are also so many deals on Kindle books, I've often gotten them much cheaper than physical books.
  10. I'm slowly making my way through American Gods by Neil Gaiman.
  11. It's been too many months; *sheepishly waves hello*

  12. Have a lovely weekend! --- I'm enjoying that it's Saturday and I get to stay in bed a bit longer - got home from work around 8.30 last night (Fridays we close the office at 4.30!). I'm viewing a flat in a few hours, other than that plan on doing nothing all day!
  13. "A Little Life" - Hanya Yanagihara Goodreads description: When four classmates from a small Massachusetts college move to New York to make their way, they're broke, adrift, and buoyed only by their friendship and ambition. There is kind, handsome Willem, an aspiring actor; JB, a quick-witted, sometimes cruel Brooklyn-born painter seeking entry to the art world; Malcolm, a frustrated architect at a prominent firm; and withdrawn, brilliant, enigmatic Jude, who serves as their center of gravity. Over the decades, their relationships deepen and darken, tinged by addiction, success, and pride. Yet their greatest challenge, each comes to realize, is Jude himself, by midlife a terrifyingly talented litigator yet an increasingly broken man, his mind and body scarred by an unspeakable childhood, and haunted by what he fears is a degree of trauma that he’ll not only be unable to overcome—but that will define his life forever. Personal Note: This is a 720 pages long novel I finished in a bit over 2 days - just couldn't put it down. I have a feeling it will be one of my favourite reads of 2016. Before reading it, a word of caution would probably be good - it deals with some pretty horrific themes from child abuse to self-harm to death (I would have liked a tiny bit of warning before starting it). This is not a happy novel and although the ending I felt fit well with the themes of the book, it did not make me smile. However it's written in such a beautiful way that it grips you from start to end. I fell in love with Jude and Willem and all the way through wanted them to be happy - of course more so Jude who just deserved a break. The one negative I'd mention is that it is a very long novel that could have easily lost some of those pages. The same effect could have been created through a bit less writing...beautiful writing yes, but I did think at times "let's move on now". All in all though, amazing read and I highly recommend it. Rating 5/5
  14. Have a great reading year in 2016!
  15. I'm still reading the first Harry Potter...the moment I came back from the holidays, life got in the way again! However I have a few ideas for the next book so I think after I turn in an exam tonight, I'll finish HP.
  16. Spoiler alert! (I'm not that bad but I have to admit book 7 is a complete blur)
  17. Even though I only got home a few hours ago, it's been a great read-a-thon! So far I've finished The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out Of The Window and Disappeared (I can't remember how much of it was in January but I think about a quarter?). I also read A Little Life (736 pages) and I'm now 15% done with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
  18. Finished A Little Life - I flew through the 700 pages these last 2 days but I'm left with a very odd feeling; so because I needed something very light after this, I started Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone earlier today It's my intention to re-read all of them this year, I always end up just re-reading the first one and I'm starting to forget details from later books.
  19. I haven't really been tempted by many of the 12 days of Kindle sale compared to the last year's. I did get a few, but way less than last year! I'm more than halfway through with A Little Life and I highly recommend it. However I do this with the warning that it's fairly depressing and sad...
  20. ^^ Thank you, I definitely will need recommendations! I plan on doing this by the author's country of birth. 193. Sweden - "The Hundred-Year-Old-Man Who Climber Out of the Window and Disappeared" - Jonas Jonasson, 4/5 It was a very good read, glad I finally got around to this book. Loved the mixture of drama and humour.
  21. Looking forward to reading this thread! I only started reading graphic novels in 2015, I feel I've been missing out all these years.
  22. Happy new reading year! I finished The Hundred-Year-Old-Man Who Climber Out of the Window and Disappeared earlier which I mostly enjoyed - felt it dragged on at some points but I got back into it and loved the ending. I'm now reading A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara and I can't put it down...except the Kindle needs to charge a bit
  23. That's a horrible saying But I like the sentiment behind it! I think some evenings when I get home from work, if I also need to study after, TV just feels so much easier. I definitely want to restrict this in 2016 and read a bit more every day...and I'm going to stop trying to read in bed before I go to sleep, I just can't do it for more than 10 minutes in the evening!
