I got my email last night & will be giving away books for the 2nd year in a row as well. I got my first choice last year & this year & this year I will be giving out copies of Alexander McColl Smith's The No 1 Ladies Detective Agency. I'll be going to our local hospital, a local hospice & to the YMCA's Space. Really looking forward to it.

Some interesting thoughts! Personally, I do not necessarily disagree with it - if it is going to be given to young children to read, then maybe the sanitised version is better? As an adult, I would not choose to read a redacted version, I think I'm adult enough to understand that that word is not now acceptable, but is an integral part of the story. The changing of Injun Joe & half breed bother me more, funnily enough.

I've added a few books & have a few in mind to read over the next few months, hoping to be up to 35 by the end of 2011.

I'm currently reading The Ice Princess by Camilla Lackberg, which I am loving & am waiting for a couple books from Per Petterson from Amazon. I haven't read any of Henning Mankell's books, but I just had a couple arrive today. I'm loving my Scandinavian crime & can't wait to read more!

I bought 2 books today - Burr by Gore Vidal & The Ice Princess by Camilla Lackberg (which is my Swedish entry for my reading challenge).

So there is a better than 50% chance that I will be moving to Scotland in about 3 months time & I am in need of some advice from those of you who are living there already. We'll be moving to the St. Andrews area for my work, but it would seem that finding accommodation is not going to be all that easy in St. Andrews proper. So my questions are: Anyone know Fife very well? Anyone able to tell me how easy it would be to commute from outside of St. Andrews, relying on public transportation & bicycle? Anyone know areas we should avoid or that you would recommend over any others?

Sara, looks like you're doing great on this challenge! (Far better than me with mine, lol). I searched for ages for a book by an Andoran author - didn't find one, so have left it in the hopes that one will be published by the time I get back to it. Good luck with finishing it!

Mine, too, but I sometimes hate his books,which astounds me! I finished his latest book a couple weeks back & was so disappointed in it! The worst part was that it was a Lincoln Rhyme novel, which I usally love. Wasn't overly fond of The Bodies Left Behind, either.

I went to the cinema the other day & saw Knight & Day (Tom Cruise & Cameron Diaz) - Excellent movie! Have recently renewed my Lovefilm.com membership, so will be watching lots of movies!

I know! Isn't it great! I haven't told you the best bit, Chrissy! While we were standing in line a guy came around with post-it's & wrote what you wanted the dedication to be. When I told him mine he laughed & said "Oh, he is going to get such a kick out of that!" So, when it was my turn I handed him my book, said hi & waited for him to read the post-it. When he had he roared with laughter, so I told him the story behind the Deaverettes. He thought it was brilliant & when he finished signing my book he held the post-it up & asked me if he could keep it. I said yes, then he put it in his pocket & said "I'm going to frame this when I get home!" How cool is that?! Frankie, it was at a book signing, at Waterstones. He did a talk first - where he talked about the process he goes through when he writes one of his books, then after that (which was over an hour in length) he then went on to sign the books.

Our back yard is all chipped slate pieces, with only 2 tiny beds, so we decided to buy some willow planters & a few pots to plant some veg. This is our first attempt, so we're going pretty small, but we have a willow planter full of potatoes, one with about a million carrots & leeks & we have a couple pots with tomatoes, butternut squash & garlic. So cannot wait for our first potatoe harvest, which should be in the next couple of weeks! Very excited!!!

Just saw some interesting news on JD's website - he has been chosen to write the next James Bond book! James Bond - I'm not personally a James Bond fan, but I think I would probably check this out just to see what Deaver does with him!
