  1. Hello!

Thanks for the Karin Slaughter headsup, why oh why does everything have to be a part of a series nowadays, it makes our TBR bulge!!! Not good! Anyway, I thought I'd ask you if I should read the books before watching the TV-series? Is the series based on all of the books or just the first one? I feel really left out and like an outsider when all you guys are watching True Blood and I'm not :( I wanna see what the fuss is about!!!

Are you still reading that Skin Privilege book or have you started something you bought today? Good luck getting your mojo back :friends0:

  2. Helloooo!

Good job getting the first Dexter book, and The Empty Chair as well! :D You just need to get going with the uni work and finish it soon so you can start reading! I've just finished my reread of Darkly Dreaming Dexter and I'm moving on to Dearly Devoted Dex.

I know I quit Lestat but I'm still hoping that after reading Dexter I might pick it up again. So no go for the scoop on Lestat, sorry

  3. Helloooooo Bethany!

How are you this morning? :D I'm here to tell you, that it's that time of the year again... Ice hockey... Remember when you hated us last year for taking away ii from her off-topic threads and making her talk about hockey with us? Those were the days.... :giggle:

  4. Hi Abby, how've you been? I've just come to Joensuu and have my own lovely laptop again <3 Parents move was okay, pretty stressing for the first couple of days but Thursday was good and it was nice to hear them say they couldn't have managed it without me :)

Do you guys celebrate Midsummer in the US? Over here it's quite big, especially Midsummer Eve. Lots of bonfires, people going to their summer cottages, BBQ and all that (a little drinking as well ;))... Very lovely! And like I told Kylie, it's so light now that I can read without having any light on all night through if I want! :D That's Finnish midsummer for you! I'm soon off to meet with friends, to have a liquid picnic (;)) and to play m

  5. Hi Abby! After reading the posts in the Rory Gilmore thread I should probably call you evil Abby  No habanero for me thanks! My ass is a lot better now, thank you very much for asking. It was not so much fun yesterday though, I tell you! I had a very funny feeling in the tummy all Friday evening, habanero didn't agree with me at all.

How've you been? I've been a bit busy lately, BF being in town and hogging the computer. :(

  6. Hi Bethany,

I noticed it's your birthday today and wanted to pop in and say Happy Birthday!! :D I hope you have a wonderful day, parteeyyy parteyyy! :D

  7. Hi Bethany!

I liked The Good Wives almost as much as Little Women, so it was good :) I wanted to read these for so long but I was always put off by the fact that Winona Ryder played Jo in the movie and I didn't want to picture Jo the book character as her. (Can't stand the woman) I think I missed out on a really good book as a child/teenager because of this :( I'm glad I finally overcame it and just read it :D

  8. Hi Catwoman!

Okay now I understand why you were jealous. It must be pretty hard sometimes, not being able to see shows and go out in general. But I can tell you that the punk band turned out to be a rock punk band, they were okay but I didn't enjoy the vocalists voice. And even though he ended up shirtless I didn't enjoy that either, not my kinda rockstar at all  The band's called Mojo Swing and I don't think they're big in Finland, let alone in the whole world. But it was nice to hear you think we've got great bands here, it's nice that our teeny tiny country has produced some internationally known artists and bands in this century!

    Have a nice Saturday! :D

  9. Hi Charm how are you? My BF is visiting this weekend (he lives in another town) so I'm good, I just don't know if I have that much time to read :) I'm glad you asked about Reichs, because I've been so confused! I guess I was waiting for Booth to come along and something to happen quite early on with Tempe's personal life but then I realised that things happen more slowly in books than in tv :( I guess there's no Booth at all, but a different set of characters all together?

After I figured that out I've been able to enjoy the actual plotline so much more. The book's about dismembered and decapitated women that are dumped in plastic bags and Tempe thinks there's a serial killer but has a hard time convincing Claudel. Does that ring a bell? :)

This is the first book and I'm yet to be convinced that Reichs is as good as Cornwell, but I'll definitely read the next book as well, I put a reservation on it in my local library yesterday !

  10. Hi Charm, how are you? I spent last night with Dexter :P I really thought that nothing in those books could surprise me anymore because I've seen so much already, but boy was I wrong. There was probably the most grotesque thing I've ever heard of in that book.

So I guess you've been warned. There are some really appalling stuff there but if you can survive that, then you're in for a treat :) Darkly Dreaming Dexter is the first novel. Happy hunting! :)

  11. Hi CW, how are you doing today? Good I hope :) I sent you an e-mail yesterday, did you get it?

BTW, I'm just reading the 4th book of the Dexter saga. I just love Lindsay's style, such a witty writer :)

  12. Hi CW, I know it's been bloody ages! I got your last visitor message and I was going to reply to it but since I've got some other stuff I wanted to talk to you about I was going to write a PM. I just haven't gotten around to doing it yet :(

Helter Skelter was really creepy for the first 100 pages or so but now it's mostly the legal stuff, looking for evidence and so forth so they'd have a strong case against Manson and the Family, so it's not that intriguing anymore. I'm hoping it'll get better later if they're doing interviews with Manson himself, I'm expecting some pretty weirdo reasonings behind his agenda!

I hope you're well luv! Whatcha reading at the mo :)

  13. Hi Giulia, how are you? :)

I remember when we were discussing A. S. Byatt's Possession and whether you would enjoy reading it (me thinking that you really would, and you thinking you may want to buy it at some point). Have you had time to go check the book in the library and read the first couple of pages to see if you like it? I was checking out my unread posts and I noticed that Nollaig is reading the book at the moment, she mentioned it in the Historical Fiction -thread. If you're interested, you can talk to her about the book when she's finished it. So far she said she's LOVING the book :D

  14. Hi Inver, and thanks :) I did a little research on play.com and I could get a used copy of Blue Diary quite cheap from there, so I'm probably going to order it from there. A friend of mine is interested in it as well so she'll get a chance to read it too. The postage overseas isn't that cheap. I think the Royal Mail should consider giving BCF book ring deliveries a discount! It would enhance the ... mmm.. cultural diversity and... social dispositions?

    Thanks for the thought :D

  15. Hi Inver, and thanks for the visit. I'm settling in just fine, this is such a great place with a warm atmosphere :) I'm still a bit unsure about how some things work out around here but I'll learn :)

By the way, great avatar :)

  16. Hi Janet!

I hope you didn't order The Graveyard Book already! The paperback I was talking about was the oversized version, I didn't realise it's not what you'd call a paperback! :S I'm visitor messaging this so you'd notice as soon as possible. Sorry for my mistake!

  17. Hi Kookie,

glad to see you here :D I've been travelling around in my country, having a summer vacation and now I'm down with a flu. I'm hoping to recover soon because there's this rockfestival I'd like to go to this weekend, I'm keeping my thumbs up. How about you, what you been up to? :)

  18. Hi Kookie, long time no see! How've you been?? And how was your Xmas and New Years?

I turned old in December, it was my 28th birthday  After that I went to BF's for the Xmas (he lives in another town) and he got sick and then I got sick. We both had fever and we were sick even until New Years! So not much fun, it was the most horrible holidays ever  I'm better now and so is BF, thank goodness :)

  19. Hi Kylie, how are things with you? :)

As you probably already read on my thread, I haven't picked up TCPatW yet, the size of it is giving me the creeps. However, I'm going to see my BF tomorrow and spend the rest of the week at his place and I'm taking that book with me and nothing else

Have I missed anything while I've been gone AWOL from the forum? I hope you're well and things are going smoothly :) You're quite right about the RSPCA program, there are a lot of people who neglect their animals and the authorities have to step in and take charge. Unfortunately there are loads of people who have been warned before and are still continuing not to take good care of their pets and need to be told off again. I wish the RSPCA had more say in things and would be able to collect all mistreated animals away from their horrible owners, right from the get-go. But there are really happy stories as well.

  20. Hi Kylie, how are you?

I have to ask about your avatar. I was watching an episode of the Gilmore Girls (which I happen to remember you like a lot from the old Willy Wonka vs. the new Willy Wonka debate here on the forum!) and there was a picture of your avatar on a wall in April's room. So I got curious about it and I want to know what your avatar is :)

  21. Hi Kylie, sad to hear you had a bought of insomnia a couple of days ago. If you want to talk, I'm listening *hug*

BTW, I just noticed in the news that some people in Sydney, Australia had made this huge mosaic of Marilyn Monroe, with like 5200 cups of coffee! It looked amazing, did you go see it? I know you like mosaics :)

  22. Hi Kylie, so nice of you to pop in and say hello :D

You don't usually see me up and around here at this time because I don't get up at 8 AM a lot of the time. The window was open all night for a change and I woke up early because of all the noise they're making at the construction site outside my window (they tore down two rows of apartment buildings and now they're building new ones to replace them). It was good though because I'd hoped I'd wake up early to go to the gym :)

Do you have any special plans for the weekend? I hope you have a good one, and get all the reading done you want :D And I'm glad you're going to pick up the Hornby book, I really really hope you enjoy it :smile2:

  23. Hi Kylie, thanks for your PM, I'll get back to it later.

Question: What was the Keith Richards book they were discussing on the FTBC show we went to? I've now finished Please Don't Kill me and he was mentioned a lot, and as a great person with a lot of talent, and now I'm curious about him and might read the book. :)

I hope you have a good one, *hugs!*

  24. Hi Kylie!

I haven't been active on the forum lately, I've been a bit down I guess. Mostly due to the dust on the pavements and roads, the most (and only) annoying thing about the spring! It makes me cough, sneeze and teary eyed everytime I go outside, nice right? It'll pass in a week or so when they've finally hosed down the roads with nice clean water :)

How've you been? Is the book fair this weekend?? You know I just can't wait to see what you've purchased!! :D

I haven't started The Crimson Petal yet but I'm going to start it tomorrow after I've finished my current true crime read.

BTW, there's this Australian RSPCA (sp?) show on TV every week day, I like it a lot and I always think of you when I see it :)

I hope you're well my friend!

  25. Hi Michelle,

I'm going to PM you about your question to me that you made in Charm's prof page, because my answer is too long for a visitor message.
