Hi Kylie! I'm back for good, it's so nice to be back and get a chance to talk to you guys finally. I've missed you lot How have you been, and have I missed anything? I had a couple of stressful days with the parents moving, I felt like I did everything wrong and was only in the way. But the last night when we were finally almost all settled in and were going to sleep in the new house for the first time, my Dad said that they would never have pulled it off without my help. And my Mum called me a 'slave driver' (?) but only in a positive way and I took it as a compliment because I was aiming to mean business and get it done as fast as possible I just came back to Joensuu and now I'm getting ready for 'juhannus', Midsummer It's Midsummer Eve today and it's a big thing here in Finland (you can google it if you're curious). I'll be pretty occupied today but I'm hoping to get into the BCF mode tomorrow

We were discussing Candide yesterday and I thought I'd come here and add that it might not be the sort of thing you usually like to read, there being killing and raping and all, but these events are not described too graphically imo, because the narratives are so fast paced. I still think you could try it out, just because it's a classic and on the Rory list and whatnot. If you find it too vile, you can give it up

I agree, it might be a bad sign! I'm quite certain that it's more difficult to read than the average reading circle novel. The style of the writing and all the different jargons make it more difficult and I think it takes a really dedicated person to finish it. Or someone like you who genuinely enjoed it I'm really glad you did, by the way, otherwise we'd be feeling a lot worse about voting for the novel. I hope others enjoy it as well. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Hornby's been really good so far, so mojo is still intact It was a shame about Miss Smilla though, I really wanted to enjoy it. But at least I finished the book. I haven't had time to read the Smilla thread completely (BF is staying with me and he's hogging the computer! ) so I don't know whether you enjoyed it or not? If you're feeling guilty about nominating Smilla then I should too because I cast one vote for the book But how were we to know it could be such a drag for some of us?

I don't blame you for not watching The Bachelor, I have no idea why I still bother with it. I can't watch it anymore without thinking this is so scripted and lame. But I guess I'm a creature of habit and can't avoid most of the reality shows that are shown here

I never watch the Bachelor, so I didn't know he was from here! I love Seattle, and I'm sad I'm living so far away from it right now (I'm about 90 minutes away). It's so pretty! You should come visit, and I'll show you all my favorite places.

I definitely want to visit Seattle at some point, maybe during my larger-than-life roadtrip to the US. There are so many places I want to visit and see, I think I need to win the lottery before I can make it happen for real

I was watching the umpth season of The Bachelor today, the one with Jason and his little boy Ty, and the girls were transported to Seattle where Jason lives. I've had some vague ideas about Seattle before and I've always found it a fascinating place (fascination started by my grunge fandome during teenage ) but I had no idea it was such a beautiful place! They were cruising on this big boat and the Space Needle was lit up and so were the lights in the houses on the beach and the lights were glowing on the surface of the water. Really beautiful, I'm jealous you get to see that whenever
