  1. Hello Kookie, I'm glad you joined us :D How are you enjoying the forum?

I've heard that you have two dogs, and sometimes when you are reading on the trampolin, one of them comes there too and jumps around and messes about a little until he settles down next to you. That must be fun

  2. It seems like a quite scary bunch, all them black and white stripes. Are you sure they haven't just escaped from prison and forgotten their prison undies under their suits??

No I'm not due!! It isn't June yet :irked:

    :D

  3. Oh my, it's become official: You're addicted! :D Didn't almost recognise you there with the new ava!

  4. Hello Gyre, and thanks for the request :friends0: Nice to meet other Sagittariuses :)

I've noticed that a lot of your avatars are manga/anime-related and I've been wondering how'd you get into it? And correct me if I'm wrong but you seem to read a lot of Japanese literature?

  5. 4 stone?? That's really well done Charm! :clapping: You know it's not your fault if you have put on a little bit of weight since the operation, because you were supposed to be passive and rest. So I hope you don't feel guilty because there's no reason for that. And what's best, obviously you know how to lose weight because you've done it already so there's no stopping you now :) Plus, it's always easier if you have a goal and your OH's 40th is definitely a good one.

  6. Sorry you lost your first reply, it's so annoying when something like that happens!! If you noticed, BFC decided to post my latest reply too before I was fully finished writing it.

Don't worry, there were no biscuits or cakes involved. I'm trying to lose some pounds too you know. I'm trying out this low carb diet which means lots of meat, eggs and other kind of protein for me, and no goodies, bread, rice/macaroni/potatoes for me. And no alcohol! It's pretty tough so I know what you're going through with your own plan and I feel for you :friends0: Stay strong, sister!

  7. has been announced that they eloped on New Year's Eve. Isn't that sweet :smile2:

  8. Sorry for the numerous posts, again, but I did a little wikipedia research and it turns out that Dexter by Design will be released quite soon actually! Amazon.so.uk has announced that the release date is Feb 5th!

Another Dexter trivia, this time the TV-series related. Jennifer Carpenter who plays Debra Morgan, Dexter's sister is really really talented and she's one of my favorite actors in Dexter. A couple of months ago I discovered that Michael C. Hall (who plays Dexter) is dating her, which felt a bit weird because they play sister and brother in the tv-series, but otherwise I was kinda glad to find that out because I like both. Now, according to Wikipedia it

  9. I'm just glad I've saved money for food and the student housing was co-operative and were okay on me paying the rent later. It's still annoying though, but I'll be fine.

I'm sorry but ceiling painting does not sound like fun, sounds like a strain on the arms and muscles. I don't blame you for ... hm... taking a wee bit break on the work ;)

And how on earth have you added 6 books already today?? Just you wait, the way we're going you'll be soon having my kinda monstrous TBR and I'll be left with only a couple of books to read. Oh it would be pleasurable!

My black wings turned out great, really crispy and juicy. Mmmmmm. Now it's time for coffee.

  10. Wow, wings came out almost black, jeez!

I wanted to say also that the next one is horrid! You'll love it!!

  11. Hello Charm!

I'm having some money issues at the mo which irritates the life out of me, the bureaucracy is ruling again :motz: Due to some technical errors I didn't get my monthly money to pay the rent. It's all sorted out now but I still have to wait who knows how long to get what I was due in the beginning. Argggh.

Otherwise I'm good. How are you? How's your redecorating coming along?

I've been trying to avoid people's book blogs because I really cannot get interested in yet another new book here and there because I'm really trying to decrease the amount TBR, lol! So nope I haven't taken a look at your blog but I will now, it's safe because it's about Dexter which I've read already =P The next in the series is "Dearly Devoted Dexter", and then there is only "Dexter in the Dark" (which I haven't read myself yet) left, the fourth book "Dexter by Design" is due this year!

Oops chicken wings waiting for me in the oven, must dash! :D

  12. Nope, I got that Russell bloke wrong! No wonder I haven't seem him around, it's really shameful how little I watch British programs anymore. "he has described himself as resembling "an S&M Willy Wonka"". Haaahaaa! =D

  13. Yep I did a little wikipedia on Tess Gerritsen and found out about the Rizolli/Isles-series. And I'm lucky I got The Surgeon because it starts the whole series. I'm also really keen on the Body Double, somebody somewhere a few years ago raved about it and I already wanted to read it back then. Have you read any of the stand alone medical thrillers? I'm not sure if they're really my cup of tea, the jargon might be a bit difficult (at least if I read in English) and I really don't do hospitals?

Yep I noticed you've been reading Booky Wook, I don't know that guy but he looks cute? Must be from the music industry then :) Oooh you've started Dexter! I'm definitely keeping my fingers crossed with that one! I'd so much like for you to enjoy it, and get your mojo back at the same time. Play.com seems to offer many Dexter books ;)

  14. Well... Um... But the books cost me like 7,5 euros alltogether, I just couldn't leave them behind!! They would have been lonely and cried and haunted me for the rest of my life... And after I've gotten Breaking Dawn from play.com I promise I won't buy more books for at least ... two weeks?

Although... I just might get Montanari's The Rosary Girls and make you more jealous for reading him for the first time too... ;) But don't be mad, you have Dexter now!

I'm a bit confused about the Gerritsen books and their order. Aren't there at least two different series? (Like Cornwell has Scarpetta and the other series which I haven't read) I'll have to google it.

BTW, is your mojo still missing? I so hope you're cured by now! :friends0:

  15. Happy New Year, Charm! :friends0:

  16. frankie

Hello ii, what are you up to and where are you hiding??

Just popped in to say Happy New Year :smile2:

  17. ...continues...

I don't think I'll be adding my TBR to my blog because it's quite lengthy. And I just joined Goodreads where I can see exactly how many books I've read, what I'm currently reading and how many books are on TBR. I find it very handy and satisfying. Also, I'm very lazy with writing on my BCF blog ...

BF left for his hometown already as did I. I've spent this morning playing Wii Fit with my parents, Dad got it as a pressie for Mom. It's been hilarious! Yet quite sweatty. Now must calm down and do a little foruming ;)

Enjoy the rest of the weekend! :friends0:

  18. Now going to bed sober, how did you manage that?? I bet boxing day was great without hangover  We had great xmas with BF, opened pressies, ate chocolate and whatnot. Although I did spend quite a lot of time on my computer finishing my book cataloguing in goodreads.com, but BF didn't mind, he watched TV and played the quitar. We drank too, but slowly and not much. We didn't practise the normal Finnish way of drinking (=getting hammered), we were quite sophisticated and European

Yeah I noticed you got some books, I was particularly happy about that Dexter book, but Stephen Fry's good too! I mean I haven't read Moab Is My Washpot yet, but it's waiting on my bookshelf. I've noticed we've acquired quite a few same books, I guess we can blame the influence of BCF!

  19. Losing one's reading mojo is real bad :irked: How long has it been now? You need t get inspired but how, oh how? Marley and Me would be great I think; very warm, funny and light ;) Or you could try out Twilight.

Of course TBR includes wishlist, duh! Or can there really be other theories on that? For me TBR means the books I've bought and haven't read yet as well as the books that I've heard of and want to read eventually. It's really gotten out of hand because I believe I have at least 70 books in my bookshelf that I haven't read yet.

Yeah we opened our presents after we went to the sauna and had our Christmas dinner (ham, salmon, mushroom salad, sweetened potato casserole etc.). BF got me a bag of chips (crisps you would say) knowing how much I like them  and some rubbing scented oil which one can use in the sauna. Lovely :smile2:

You're probably already a bit tipsy by now and enjoying yourself? Have fun!! :friends0:

  20. Woooot, do they count these visitor messages also as messages in the forum? I didn't know that. Wow, one could become a bookworm without discussing books at all!

I think it's quite baffling that you've joined the forum after I did and yet you have more than two times the amount of posts that I have. And still your mount TBR is smaller than mine. No wonder you call your self organised =D

  21. My post was too long again, that's why the numerous posts, sorry

I wish you and your family a very peaceful, joyos and merry Christmas! :friends0:

(And really, plz, your TBR is 16 books long?? How is that "long"?? Mine's over hundred!)

  22. Awww, why is there no Santa?? :( I know you're daughter is old enough not to believe but still, I think Santa makes the Christmas. I was so unhappy the first year my parents told me Santa wasn't coming. When I started pouting they didn't understand because they knew I knew about Santa not being real.

But at least your daughter is still young enough to feel the magic of Christmas, that's good :) I think having young 'uns around at Christmas is great, makes the Christmas more magical for the "old" ones as well!

Now I gotta stop this, my BF is watching Simpsons reruns while I'm posting, and he's absent-mindedly banging the drumsticks he got for his friend and it's irritating the **** out of me!!! He's also commenting the Simpsons which distracts me from posting and Lord knows how long I've been writing this because of that!!!

  23. You'll never be able to make me totally organised eventhough you managed it with the Christmas pressies  But you can sure try, I could use a little push every now and then with my studies.... *whistles*

I bet you're done with the Mon&Tue cleaning already. Now that is scary. We still have to buy the ham and all the food but that's okay since there's only the two of us. We're going right after I've finished my coffee (and posting on this forum, but don't tell that to BF :lol:). The place needs a little vacuuming too but that'll be quick as it's a small student apartment. And wrapping the presents but that's just pure fun :)

But you're lucky, you have Wednesday as well to finish the cooking and everything, here in Finland we start celebrating at Christmas Eve, that's when we open our presents.

  24. I just had to come here and tell you something and make you proud  You remember asking me if I'd already done my Chrismas shopping and me answering "nope " Well! I started my shopping last Wednesday and was done with it by Friday afternoon! :D And I must say that I've never been finished with the Christmas shopping so soon and so long before the D-Day :smile2: I must say it feels good not leaving everything in the last minute, now I'm able to just relax and start doing the decorating and just enjoying my BF's company (he came here to celebrate Christmas and we have almost a week to ourselves :smile2:). Hooooray!

Are you and your family already waiting anxiously for Xmas? You must be because there are kids involved in your household  Awww, the eagerness of the young...

  25. Yep, the party went well and people seemed to have fun so it was okay :)

And I can totally relate to your cooking for your partner for the first time, that is so scary! I'm glad it went okay and he liked it :) I bet you'll be more comfortable the next time you cook for him.

I never really learnt how to cook when I was still living at home with my parents because they were always too eager to give me advice and I always took it to mean that I don't know how to do anything myself  So I never liked cooking. And now I have a BF that's a really great cook and used to doing the cooking so I never really have to cook for him, and I'd be terrified to cook for him now. Why oh why does one have to feel so insecure :irked:
