  1. I can imagine you worrying about it, you couldn't really start asking me about it so as not to spoil the surprise, right? Aww poor you :) Everything's been good, visited parents and saw the new house for the first time (it was quite nice and the backyard was huge in my opinion, the house'll need some fixing though but it'll be great) and BF was here last week. I spent the weekend reading books and nothing else, it was quite nice :) How've you been? I noticed your old thread is deleted, I was a bit sad to find out :( But glad to know the new thread is out and about. I must visit it pronto, I've been quite passive on the forum lately except for announcing all my reading, naughty me! I've been getting more active today though. Love your new hair btw, although I loved the old one as well :D Tough bananas!

  2. Abby!! You kind, kind, wonderful, thoughful person, you! I just received the postcard you sent me, I can't believe you sent me one eventhough you didn't go anywhere. Thanks you so much, it was really surprising and delightful to receive a real postcard from the States, it's now officially my first one :D It rather made me blush and almost teary-eyed, your kind words. Now this is a good way to start a new week :D

Ps. I wonder why it took so long, since you posted it ages ago. Maybe it got lost along the way, thank goodness not for good!

  3. Happy Birthday Vinay! :)

  4. Hi Giulia, how are you? :)

I remember when we were discussing A. S. Byatt's Possession and whether you would enjoy reading it (me thinking that you really would, and you thinking you may want to buy it at some point). Have you had time to go check the book in the library and read the first couple of pages to see if you like it? I was checking out my unread posts and I noticed that Nollaig is reading the book at the moment, she mentioned it in the Historical Fiction -thread. If you're interested, you can talk to her about the book when she's finished it. So far she said she's LOVING the book :D

  5. It's a show that raises mixed feelings: hatred towards the people that neglect their pets, but at the same time admiration and love for the people who are readily reporting these things and who look after animals so readily. I'm always so pleased and thankful to hear about people who care and are willing to report neglect and are making it their business to see that something will be done about it.

  6. I mean stories with happy ending, of course. The last time I watched the show there had been massive fires in the forrests and towns and a lot of people had to clear off immediately from their houses and neighborhoods, the sight of it was absolutely horrid. The good part was that there were so many volunteers and doctors to put up this vet station near the fire sight. And they found horses who'd managed to somehow stay alive. And they'd found this cat who was in a horrible way but they managed to keep her alive and they posted pics of the pets that had been found and brought to the station, and the family of the cat found her there and couldn't believe their luck that the cat had survived! The owners were so happy they were crying, and, well, so was I

  7. Hi Kylie, how are things with you? :)

As you probably already read on my thread, I haven't picked up TCPatW yet, the size of it is giving me the creeps. However, I'm going to see my BF tomorrow and spend the rest of the week at his place and I'm taking that book with me and nothing else

Have I missed anything while I've been gone AWOL from the forum? I hope you're well and things are going smoothly :) You're quite right about the RSPCA program, there are a lot of people who neglect their animals and the authorities have to step in and take charge. Unfortunately there are loads of people who have been warned before and are still continuing not to take good care of their pets and need to be told off again. I wish the RSPCA had more say in things and would be able to collect all mistreated animals away from their horrible owners, right from the get-go. But there are really happy stories as well.

  8. I spy with my little eye that you've been on the forum! :D Sorry that I haven't replied to your message on FB yet, I've been a bit down myself what with all the spring reactions: dust on the pavement, dust on the road, dust everywhere, everywhere I go! I can't go outside without getting all sneezy and teary-eyed and it's been really bugging me. You're in my thoughts though  Catch you later luv! :)

  9. Hi Kylie!

I haven't been active on the forum lately, I've been a bit down I guess. Mostly due to the dust on the pavements and roads, the most (and only) annoying thing about the spring! It makes me cough, sneeze and teary eyed everytime I go outside, nice right? It'll pass in a week or so when they've finally hosed down the roads with nice clean water :)

How've you been? Is the book fair this weekend?? You know I just can't wait to see what you've purchased!! :D

I haven't started The Crimson Petal yet but I'm going to start it tomorrow after I've finished my current true crime read.

BTW, there's this Australian RSPCA (sp?) show on TV every week day, I like it a lot and I always think of you when I see it :)

I hope you're well my friend!

  10. Hiya, thanks for the friend request :D I hope you've been enjoying this forum, I find it the best place to talk books and meet new awesome people :)

  11. I see :D But I say Sebastian is pretty masculine in other ways so it doesn't bother me :giggle: (Why is it that whenever I'm writing his name I start to write 'Stephanie'?? That kinda contradicts what I just said about his masculinity )

  12. Kylie, don't you like Sebastian's hair? :( I like it, I always like long hair on guys. I don't think he's ever going to cut it, it's like a part of him. Rock 'n roll all the way.

  13. Happy Birthday Laura, I hope you have a really grand day! :D

  14. Happy Birthday Nici, I hope you have a lovely day and awesome pressies :D

  15. Hi CW, I know it's been bloody ages! I got your last visitor message and I was going to reply to it but since I've got some other stuff I wanted to talk to you about I was going to write a PM. I just haven't gotten around to doing it yet :(

Helter Skelter was really creepy for the first 100 pages or so but now it's mostly the legal stuff, looking for evidence and so forth so they'd have a strong case against Manson and the Family, so it's not that intriguing anymore. I'm hoping it'll get better later if they're doing interviews with Manson himself, I'm expecting some pretty weirdo reasonings behind his agenda!

I hope you're well luv! Whatcha reading at the mo :)

  16. Morning Mac, you're up early! I'm good thanks, little stress with uni stuff but that's always the story with me until I manage to finish my thesis :D How've you been? I don't think we've crossed paths on the forum lately, which I guess means that we haven't been reading the same kinds of books. I've just started Wuthering Heights, I'm rather embarrassed that I've managed to neglect such a classic for so long. What are you reading?

  17. Happy Birthday Purple Poppy! :)

  18. Happy Birthday! Have the bestest of days :D

  19. Hello there, how are you? I hope everything's fine and dandy with you :D

I don't know if you've already noticed but the Rory Gilmore book group is thinking about reading something in March, quite possibly Rebecca, Wuthering Heights or The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay and I thought I'd mention it to you in case you've missed it :)

  20. Haa, nice to hear! :D Have you seen the show before, or have you just started watching it? It's such an excellent show, and I can watch it time after time and I never grow tired of it. Quite the opposite, I always notice new things about the show :D If you haven't noticed already, some of us die hard fans have started a thread on the books that are read or mentioned in the show, there's a reading challenge for that. Pop in if you're interested, last month we read Gone with the Wind!

  21. What, you forgot a book thing! (Even though it's just posting a pic -bookthing) Tut tut! I'm gonna go and see if you've done it yet :) I hope your boss doesn't know that you're on BCF during office hours :giggle: I'm not gonna tell! Do your work mates now about your book obsession? No wait of course they do, let me rephrase: Do they know about BCF and are the bookish people themselves? :)

6 books waiting to be delivered... Choose being excited, of course  Why would you want to be annoyed!

Hm there was some other thing I wanted to tell you as well but I forgot what it was. Maybe it'll come back to me later. Have a nice evening :D

  22. Helloooooo Bethany!

How are you this morning? :D I'm here to tell you, that it's that time of the year again... Ice hockey... Remember when you hated us last year for taking away ii from her off-topic threads and making her talk about hockey with us? Those were the days.... :giggle:

  23. Hm you haven't had time to put it up yet perhaps :)

  24. Hiya Kylie! It sounds like you had a great time :D Bookshopping is definitely a must on a birthday ;) And you got lovely gifts as well! I already posted this on your reading blog (or was it the Book Activity -thread) that I think you're doing a great job restraining yourself from book buying. Not that I want you to not buy books, but it that's what you want I'll support you all the way :friends0: And I think it shows strength to not buy a book if the copy is very tatty.

I'm now gonna take a look at the photo you took :D
