  1. I've read this aswell. Wasn't really a fan of it to be honest. I liked the character of Evan and the situation and how it evolved. Just the ending really made the book seem to not have a point really at all.
  2. Hello and :welcomeboard: Jordan!

    Dexter

Yeah three novels by Jeff Lindsay. Darkly Dreaming Dexter, Darkly Devoted Dexter and Dexter in the Dark is coming out soon.
  4. Into the Wild is an amazing film. I saw it and straight awa went out and bought the DVD. Just a brilliant film. Emilie Hirsch really established himself as a great promising actor in the difficult role. It was superbly shot showing the great outdoors and the surrounding that the really Christopher McCandless came into contact with. Yes, Nick Cave and Warren Ellis did the soundtrack for the Assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford. It's a phenomenally good soundtrack. The only reason it didn't get nominated, or even win, an oscar was because the Academy have a stupid rule where things that are co-wrote by two people arn't accepted. Even though they've changed that to suit the Coen's. Not complaining about Joel and Ethan, they're fantastic, i'm a fan.

    Dexter

Yeah. Season 1 was fantastic, but so is season 2. It takes a different turn but it's just brilliant television. Season 1 was actually mostly adapted from the first Dexter novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay. Season 2 however, is all new material. Brilliant television.
  6. I wouldn't mind Luke to win. The stuff he comes out with is hilarious.
  7. Hmm...it's been a year since i've read it. Cannot really remember any specific parts. Not wanting to spoil anyone, PM me the part you mean, see if jogs my memory.
  8. :welcome: to the forum, Jordan. Hope you enjoy it here. :)
  9. For me pretty much the same. I thought one day that i fancied joining a book forum. Searched it on google and 'bam' here i am.

    Dexter

Dexter is a brilliant show. Where has everyone watched up to? I've seen two seasons now and i cannot wait for the third later in the year. The acting is brilliant from Michael C Hall. It's truly gripping television.
  12. Anyone read anything of this new author? I wasn't sure if i should post this here on in the history section. His novels are all set in modern day but all deal heavily on history and specifically ancient history. However his books are mainly adventure thrillers so they can go here fine. I'm currently reading the Alexander Cipher which is his first novel. See below. "Non stop adventure and death defying chases in Will Adam's outstanding debut novel. It's 318 BC in the deserts of Libya, and Alexander the Great is buried as only a God should be, placed in a golden Sarcophagus in a catacomb of chambers, each packed with diamonds, rubies and gold. This was how he should have remained, but time waits for no-one. 2007 and underwater archaeologist Daniel Knox has been on the trail of Alexander's Gold ever since he can remember. When a tomb is uncovered on the construction site of a new hotel he believes he has found a clue to what he has been working towards for years. But the discovery has alerted two of the most dangerous men in the world, and Daniel is now a marked man." I've just finished the Alexander Cipher today. It's a brilliant story, with many greatly developed characters that intertwine to make a gripping story that centres around the treasure and body of Alexander the Great, the history surrounding him, but so much more. It's a fantastic read. Anyone intrested in history, or just wants a great action packed read should go out and get this. For a debut novel it's fantastic. I've also just read about this second novel, The Exodus Quest. See below. "On the trail of a Dead Sea Scroll, Daniel Knox finds himself at an excavation just outside Alexandria, where an evangelical Christian archaeologist has just discovered an undeclared Jewish Temple. Knox takes photographs and sends them to his partner Gaille. Moments later Knox’s jeep is forced of the road killing his friend and head of the SCA - Omar. Meanwhile in Egypt, Gaille is baby-sitting a television documentary crew. When she receives Dan’s pictures she quickly realises that one of them has a link to the Copper Scroll, one of the Dead Sea Scrolls. But more importantly the link is also attached to the one time Pharaoh Akheneaten in Amarana – the very place the crew are filming. Whilst following up the connections Gaille unwittingly draws the attention of Khaled a tomb robber and army officer. Khaled soon realises that Gaille has what he wants and suddenly she and the television crew are in mortal danger from a greedy and deranged individual. Back in Alexandria Knox is under investigation for the murder of his colleague and then sees a broadcast showing a kidnapped Gaille. It's obvious only to him that Gaille is trying to send him a coded message but Knox is now imprisoned and Gaille's time is running out. What's worse, a new and even more dangerous foe is about to make its mark…"
  13. I've only read on Lee Child novel, Die Trying. I actually bought it out of blind luck. I read the back, it sounded good and i liked the cover, so i got it. I had no idea that it was a series of some sort. It was a very good novel, but i think i liked it for the reasons that weren't key to the series. I hated the Jack Reacher character. So bland, so Bond-like. What i did like was the antagonists in the novel and the idea of gaining their Independence. I thought it was a very well thought out idea. I doubt i'll read another Lee Child novel. The character of Jack Reacher is just so invisible to me, he has nothing intresting about him. That's just my opinion, i'm sure many think otherwise and that's fair enough.
  14. Yeah, you don't have to pick just the one, unless you really want to. For me it's far too hard. So i just have a few favourite films. Brick Shawshank Redemption Assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford Da Vinci Code Children of Men Into the Wild Walk The Line Zodiac
  15. Thought i'd say hello. I've been trying to register on this forum for about a week now but it wasn't working due to some server issues. Good thing i really liked the look of this forum otherwise after one attempt i would of stopped. Finally today i was able to register today. Good times. Anyway, a bit about myself. I'm a film student at University. I've been a big fan of books and reading since a few years back. I've read a number of books, usually get through one every two to three months. Slow reader, but i like to take my time and fully take in cliffhangers instead of just reading through loads and then not remembering any of it. My favourite author is probably Dan Brown. The Da Vinci Code got me into reading and how fun it can be. Since i've read Angels and Demons and Deception Point. I'll read Digitial Fortress sometime, but i don't like to read just one authors books, i like to vary the writing style and genres. I'm a big fan of adventure thriller novels, and i'm currently reading the Alexander Cipher, the debut novel by Will Adams. I highly recommend it. I'm not finished it yet, should be in the next few days and it's fantastic. I also love detective style books, mostly recently getting into the Dresden Files series. So that's enough about me, what types of books do everyone else like? Any common intrests to mine?
