The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest by Stieg Larsson

    Synopsis:

In the concluding volume of Stieg Larsson's Millennium trilogy, Lisbeth Salander lies in critical condition in a Swedish hospital, a bullet in her head.

But she's fighting for her life in more ways than one: if and when she recovers, she'll stand trial for three murders. With the help of Mikael Blomkvist, she'll need to identify those in authority who have allowed the vulnerable, like herself, to suffer abuse and violence. And, on her own, she'll seek revenge—against the man who tried to killer her and against the corrupt government institutions that nearly destroyed her life.

    ~ Erin's Book Blog 2013 ~

Below are the books I've read in 2013. My goal this year is to read at least five books a season.

~ Books I've read are rated out of five.

    ~ Books I re-read are marked (RR)

~ Books I read for the Rory Gilmore Challenge are in pink.

    My Rating System

1 - Awful! If I didn't have such respect for books, I'd have thrown it at the wall!

    2 - Annoying. Wouldn't recommend this.

3 - Average. Didn't sway me one way or another.

4 - Enjoyable. Would definitely recommend it to others.

5 - Excellent! Didn't want to put it down!

  13. Amazing!! What did you think of Iceland, by the way?

I love your new reading spot, too! I've said it before, but I'll say it again: I love going through your book log with the pictures! And I'm going to say a dirty word now, so stop reading if you're overly sensitive: it's just such awesome book porn to go through the pics! :giggle:

frankie, Iceland was amazing! I was only there for a day and a half, so I didn't get to do as much as I wanted, but it was really beautiful. Definitely an experience I wont soon forget.

Just caught up on all your reading piccies...wonderful.

    Thanks, Inver! :)

Glad you survived the hurricane Erin must say it looks very cosy reading by candlelight although i would have to get out my reading glasses to see the pages :D The Steig Larsson books are great aren't they everyone i know who's read them has enjoyed them perfect for pepping up your mojo.

Thank you, Kidsmum! Unfortunately I have yet to finish the last book, but there's always the new year!

  14. Hi all! Sorry I haven't had any pictures to share lately. My mojo started to slip away towards the end of September and just completely disappeared in October. I'm happy to report that my mojo has since returned, unfortunately it was do to a hurricane that swept through my city. I was without power for a week, so once the sun went down my go to source of entertainment was reading. Hoping to finish The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest within the next two weeks before the holiday rush begins. Hope you all are well!

So happy I never caved and bought one of those silly kindles!

  15. Hi bookworm , thanks for dropping in. Yes, I guess I could substitute books, but because it was a challenge I felt I should stick it out to expand myself a bit. A couple of other books in the challenge were hard work, The Autobiography of Malcom X and The Diary Of A Civil Servant, but I felt that in the end they were worth the effort and I learned from them. The only book I have completely hated in the challenge was Catcher In The Rye.

    That makes perfect sense!

Oh, I hated the Cather in the Rye! I've actually re-read that book more than once trying to figure out why so many people love it. I just don't get it!

  16. I'm struggling to regain my reading mojo at the moment too. I love how you illustrate your reading through monthly photo montages, such a cool idea!

Thank you, Karen! I hope your mojo returns soon.

I got my camera working again. (After dropping it in the Thames) I might shamelessly steal your idea Erin . Glad you enjoyed The Girl Who Played With Fire so much.

    Go for it!

  17. Although I am not supposed to be buying any more tree books, I have gotten on top of my finances this month as well as dealt with some personal stuff and moved on , so I felt I deserved a treat. When all the sums were done and everything put in the bank I had £10 to spend on myself; I spent £4 yesterday in London on some London souveniers and today went into a couple of charity shops and came out with 6 books, 2 music cds and a DVD.

I really enjoyed spending that money and got a great haul which I am sure will give me hours of quiet pleasure.

    the books are:

The Midnight Palace Carlos Ruiz Zafon

    The Book Thief Markus Zusak

    Pemberley Emma Tennant (P&P sequel?)

    Girl Meets Boy Ali Smith

Gunners On Tour Maurice Court (WWII memoir)

    The Almost Moon Alice Sebold

Everyone deserves a book treat once in awhile! The Book Thief was a great choice. Will most likely be my best read this year.

I am not enjoying The Bourne Identity. My image of Bourne comes from the Matt Damon film. The one in the book is totally different and so is Marie. Other things are so different too. If it was not a Genre Challenge book I would stop reading it.

I've heard the books are very different from the movies and the movies are actually better! Usually its always the other way around.

I'm wondering if you find it hard having to finish a book you don't like so you can check it off your challenge list. Could you substitute it for a better book since yours is a genre challenge?
