  1. I like fantasy. Read tolkiens 'The Hobbit'.....and the first two books of LOTR, after that i couldn't go any further. Just got bogged down in mind numbing detail. I've read a few books based on games workshop's warhammer world. Although mainly aimed at kids and young adults, it's surprisingly very dark. I enjoyed them immensly. Never read 'Harry Potter'. I don't think i could read them to be honest, although i enjoyed the movie 'The Philosophers Stone'. Terry Pratchett. Never, ever read anything from Mr P. Fritz Leiber. Wasn't this guy credited with starting the 'sword & sorcery' genre?....Well i've never read anything from this guy also. Although i've heard good things about his writing.
  2. Hmm ,think it depends on whether you believe in an afterlife or not. I personally do, but yes there are many cases of 'mediums' who claim to have this ability....only to find out that their frauds. If DA has been proven to be lying then thats a bloody disgrace. I've never really known what to make of this guy as he seems genuine to me.....but having said that, in reference to 'pendle hell' most haunted live.....like i said before, he was TOO accurate with the characters involved. All the main people involved in 1612 he got correct. It was embarrassing. Needless to say i don't watch the programme anymore.
  3. Another dennis wheatley fan here. Like kitty_kitty i've only read his black magic books.....actually, come to think of it i did read one of his ww2 occult novels, but yes, i loved 'devil rides out', gateway to hell', ' the satanist' ,To the devil a daughter'. Think the op may be a bit young to remember this, but i did subscribe to the heron red 'leather' edition books from a sunday paper advertisment back in the seventies . Didn't get them all though as i only went for a select few. I sold them a years back, but managed to find a them again on abebooks. So i bought Devil rides out and strange conflict. Great to see them again. So many memories . Think you'll find his books out of print as there not very PC for many people in this day and age which is a shame. There was, and i think still is, an excellent site dedicated to wheatley: http://www.denniswheatley.info/contents.htm Sadly the original owner passed away recently but the reins have been taken up by one of the sites members.
  4. You mean 'Pendle Hell'? Yeah thats the place. Found it a bit embarrasing to watch, as derek achora seemed too accurate with the characters involved. What did you think of it?
  5. thank you for the welcome , You know, i don't really know why i'm so interested in the pendle witches. I first read about them in a large format book called ' Witchcraft and demonolgy' oooh years ago. Ever since i've been fascinated by them. I've never been to the area although i'd love too one day. In 1977 there was a bbc drama called 'The Witches of Pendle' anyone seen that? , and that really increased my interest even more ( terrific drama, wish it was available again). You really should read 'mist over pendle' especially if you live in the area ( lucky thing!), The characters seem to come alive and i love it. I read it every year about october time. Pop over to amazon and have a read of the review by a margaret of clitheroe there about the book. She's spot on! It's a terrific review. Wonder if she's a member here. Yes, if i knew the area personally my enjoyment would be complete. Wow, so many from east lancs . Yes i read your thread Icecream ( i've actually forgotten what you said now as i'm typing this lol) oh well, i know you enjoyed it and yes i think this other book would be an interesting read as well. Think it's out of print but you can by it from abebooks online HCG
  6. Hello, Being a HUGE fan of robert neill's 'mist over pendle', i was wondering if anyone had read kate mulhollands 'A cry of Innocence' ? Apparently it's a diferent take on the pendle witches but no less interesting ( fiction). I would appreciate your thoughts Thanks
