  1. While that could be true, I signed up for this back in May/June when they advertised it in a monthly newsletter and they said that the 20 first to email would be getting a book. My deadline was August 6th (when the site went up) and since I live in Sweden I got my book on the Thursday before deadline (which was on Monday), and the review was to be max 200 words, which I found quite hard. So anyway, what Michelle said could be true, but I know that there are regular readers as well since I'm one of them (although my review isn't up yet). However, I don't think you should worry at all. What Penguin wants is regular readers' opinions and that's what they're getting. Good luck everyone, and don't worry!
  2. Hm, I haven't really thought about it, but I guess it would be something like this: 1. Deathly Hallows 2. Goblet of Fire 3. Prisoner of Azkaban 4. Order of the Phoenix 5. Half-Blood Prince 6. Chamber of Secrets 7. Philosopher's Stone
  3. I agree with everything Kylie said. I absolutely love classics. The language, the fact that these books obviously made an impact on people's lives at that particular time, and the fact that they passed the test of time. I don't know why, but it just amazes me.
  4. I don't know if there already exist a topic for this book, but I tried to search for one (but the search didn't work) and I looked back a few pages and couldn't find any. I haven't read this book yet, but really want to, and I think this is the perfect opportunity to start reading it (from Penguin's newsletter): It sounds very intriguing, doesn't it? I think this is a fabolous way to promote books, and right now I'm happy I didn't read this book before so I can look forward to a new chapter every evening So what do you think of the book if you've read it? Worth listening to?

    Hello!

No, it's made by Stacy Novak, she does all the artwork for my favourite band, Margot and the Nuclear So and So's, and that's what it says over the mouse.
  6. Yeah, I'm not that depressed I'm just saying I wish I had more time to read, but when this week is over, I'll have more time to read.
  7. I usually read in the evening. How much depends on how tired I am, and when I have to get up the next day. The bath would really be the ideal place and time though, but I'm just too afraid of dropping the book in the water.
  8. I lose my reading mojo when I have a lot of school work, it's really sad, but all I can think about is school work and when that is done I'm just too tired. I think I may have one of those periods right now. I do want to read but I can't bring myself to do it, because I know that I have other things to do. It's awful.
  9. I always write my name, date and where I got the book (if I bought it in another town/country etc.) or who I got it from. I don't know why I do it, but I guess it's because they feel like my own books then, and no one can claim them as their own. Plus, I'm terribly afraid of forgetting things when I get older (it runs in the family unfortunately), and when/where I got books is definitely something I want to remember (which is why I keep a reading journal as well). I think notes in the margins of thoughts etc. would be a really great thing to do, to show that the book has been read (and loved) and it's really interesting to follow the line of thought one had at that particular moment, but I could never bring myself to write more than my name in a book. I just like the idea of it though.

    Hello!

Thanks everyone! Hmm, I read almost everything except horror/thrillers. At the moment I'm very into reading classics (the annual booksale back in February had a lot of English classics this year, and I still have books left!) and general fiction. I've also gotten to read a lot of Shakespeare, and I actually went to the Globe in London this past weekend (awesome!), so I think I'll read more plays by him as well. I think my TBR pile is something of 20 books (ehehehe) since I came back from London. I wonder how huge it will become after reading all your recommendations... B)

    Hello!

Hi everyone! Another newbie here. I found this forum today after browsing various book sites, looking for a place to discuss books, seeing as my friends aren't really into reading as much as I am. I've been looking through the forums a bit, and it seems like a really nice place, so I thought I'd stop by and say hello. So anyway, hello! I'm Frida, but I usually go by the screen name etheline online (it's a character in The Royal Tenenbaums, the movie by Wes Anderson), and I live in Sweden. The books I read are 99% English though, and I've studied English since I was 9, so I'd say I have a pretty good grasp of the language B) I'm really bad at these introductions though, so I think I'll stop there, but I'll just say that I can't wait to get active and start discussing books and reading in general!
