  1. I have 'Dirt Music' on TBR pile - am looking forward to it
  2. I read 'Widower' last year and this is what I wrote about it in Librarything - A very enjoyable read. Well written. The first few chapters describe the extreme despair of bereavement and I read on with a heavy heart. Doug, the main character, not wholly likeable moves towards resolution with the assistance of family. I loved his father's character, I felt quite tearful about him. Could be made into a great film. So I understand why you stopped reading I read Triffids as a teenager and it as stayed with me all these years
  3. I shall have to give her a try soon
  4. Thanks Nici - we made the best of it and then just agreed to cut our losses - H and P didn't moan at all - wont be long before Robbie is taking his GCSE's!- hope you are benefitting from your time off work - love Paula xx

  5. Phil not home yet but has let us open envelope - it's quite difficult to understand but he has an A for Maths and Science and an A * for a bit of Science - Phil needs to explain it - so good news!!

  6. I don't have Boy A - Kell has a bookring with it - I will bring the other one xx

  7. Finished 'Seesaw' by Deborah Moggach - excellent read and review in the blog. I had forgotten what a good writer she is. Read 'Love in a Cold' Climate by Nancy Mitford and will review shortly.
  8. I can't find the thread related to this on BCF and I can't find where to put my review on the Penguin site. I don't have access to my Outlook either to look up the old email so I 'm hoping someone can help me to point me in the right direction please?
  9. I seem to have weaned myself off - I watched Boris instead tonight
  10. I enjoyed 'Dead Famous' too - 'Chart Throb' was also good
  11. I was a competitive swimmer in my youth. I trained every day before school at Crystal Palace 6-7.30am then school then again after school 5-7pm. Session on Sundays as well and usually a competition somewhere in the country on Saturday evening. So I enjoy watching swimming, I enjoy watching cycling, gymnastic and athletics. I love to watch my daughter and her school team play netball. It's a really exciting game. I wish it had more TV time
  12. I have waited a couple of months for at least 1
  13. He is a controller and she needs to get rid asap
  14. He did this evening but you have to fill a form out and wait for a reply blah blah for a price of course

  15. It was easier all those years ago - you can't just go and queue now - I still can't believe how incompetent they were - the first guy I spoke to at the PO I swear was half cut - the second one Mike dealt with made us the Liverpool appt which did not exist and then a letter arrived giving us an appointment next Wed - just abysmal but you dare not complain

  16. I laughed when I saw it Paula - didn't seem to latch on in this house though
  17. I agree - I think I would probably like Mikey to win now just for having the guts to do it, participate in the activities without asking for special treatment, and survive!
