  1. Stolen shamelessly off Facebook. Same principle as the Never Ending Song game. Use a word from the previous book title to make a new one. Fried Green Tomatoes At Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg
  2. Maeve Binchy

Long time since I've read anything by her, but agree, they're lovely books to get lost in. I remember particularly enjoying Evening Class, Quentins and Scarlet Feather.
  3. Game of Thrones

George RR Martin has just said NZ can imprison him until he finishes Book 6 if he hasn't done it by the time he comes here in July next year for the World Science Fiction Convention https://www.nzherald.co.nz/entertainment/news/article.cfm?c_id=1501119&objectid=12233521

  6. We Don't Need Another Hero ~ Tina Turner
  7. Word Association

code I clicked and thought what a novel and very funny association. Would make a good crossword clue.
  8. Game of Thrones

I agree, Muggle. Don't think I've ever followed a series quite so passionately before, despite not usually watching such graphically violent films. Did you know Jon (Kit Harrington) has married Ygritte (Rose Leslie) in real life?
  9. We Are the People ~ Empire of the Sun
  10. Game of Thrones

Agree with everything you say here, Madeleine. I wonder if any of the cast will be in the prequel? Looking forward to it and also very much looking forward to reading George R R Martin's last two books if and when they finally get published! Will be be very interesting to see how much the books differ from the series ending.
  11. Listen To the Pouring Rain ~ Jose Feliciano
  12. Game of Thrones

Overall I was happy with how things ended for everyone. A couple of things didn't feel quite right to me. I felt the Unsullied and the Dothraki ... I also felt it a little irresolute of Jon to This whole final series felt like it could have had so much more detail and there were a lot of characters we didn't see until the final episode, and then only very sketchily. Their stories could have been woven in like they were in the earlier series. But I think that's down to the fact that George RR Martin is such an extraordinarily good story writer whilst the the HBO writers just aren't up to his standard. I just read HBO are going to make a prequel.
  13. Have I Told You Lately ~ Van Morrison

  15. Becoming Jane Eyre by Sheila Kohler
  16. Your Book Activity - May 2019

Reading Major Pettigrew's Last Stand by Helen Simonson. Love the Major's dry and rather acerbic sense of humour, especially when it's directed at his awful son. I've also read Simonson's The Summer Before the War, but am enjoying this one more.
  17. Your Book Activity - May 2019

You lucky things! I hope you had a wonderful time. Yes, I have watched the Shetland series ... well as many as were available on Netflix. I was hooked. Love the addition of Tosh, who didn't appear in the books. The St Mary's books are a rollicking great adventure

  20. Your Book Activity - May 2019

Glad you've found that pesky elusive mojo again, Chrissy. I've found the bloomin' thing goes AWOL at the slightest excuse I recently read one of Ann Cleeves Jimmy Perez books and enjoyed it very much. The setting alone is enough to hook me, but she writes very well too. I must read the second Chronicles of St Mary's book. Thoroughly enjoyed the first, but left me feeling a bit exhausted from all that action and excitement. I think I've calmed down enough now to go off on another action packed adventure
