  1. That last one sounds fascinating K. What an interesting hypothesis that most leaders have some sort of mental illness. It's certainly very obvious in the likes of Hitler and Mussolini and anyone who is prepared to sacrifice so many people's lives for their cause. What always astounds me is that such a ridiculous little man like Hitler could be so persuasive. You just have to watch him making his speeches and you see how ludicrous he was.
  2. Nearly finished The Last Time They Met. Anita Shreve writes intelligently and sensitively but this book has a fair bit of angst and I'm a bit ditsy when another book comes along that catches my eye. So I've got side-tracked into reading The Nutters Club: Helping Nutters From the Inside Out by Mike King with David Codrye. This is written by a NZ comedian and based on a radio programme, where NZers who have a variety of mental health issues, discuss how they have found their way back into meaningful lives. I've only read a few of the stories so far, but being a bit of a nutter myself, I can really relate to what's being said. The most valuable piece of advice I've found so far is that although counselling etc can be very beneficial, we need to trust our own instincts about what works for us, because everyone is different.
  3. Just caught up with all the health issues you are having Julie and can I just send my love and some big hugs as well
  4. Falling Off The Face Of The Earth ~ Neil Young Although he hasn't quite got the voice he used to have, this is a really lovely song off his Prairie Wind album.
  5. The talented and very graceful ........Paulette Huntinova http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sifDmYLuMfY
  6. I started watching Shutter Island but found it just too disturbing. I like the sound of A River Runs Through It, though.
  7. We've just been awarded one more gold medal. Valerie Adams, our shot put silver medalist, has received the gold after the Belarussian Nadzeya Ostapchuk was excluded from competition following a positive test for metenolone, an anabolic steroid.
  8. Another very thought provoking one from Bree .... For it is true we can seldom help those closest to us. Either we don't know what part of ourselves to give or, more often than not, the part we have to give is not wanted. And so it those we live with and should know who elude us. But we can still love them - we can love completely without complete understanding. ~ A River Runs Through It
