Well...a few things have changed for me in the last few months. My long time Other Half and myself have tied the knot. We married early in October, and are happy as clams.

Thanks a lot y'all! I twisted my foot just after getting out of the hotel shuttle back at home, the graduated curb wasn't marked and I didn't notice the unevenness...stepped halfway off,and my foot twisted and I went down, like a sack of potatoes. Next day, Sunday, I went to Urgent Care, they x-rayed it...gave me a boot to wear for 6-8 weeks. I wore it 6...oy, miserable, but I was really lucky. It seems to have healed without any problem and NO specialists.

Um, this is really a question for all of us...what has happened to Julie? I couldn't find the place to private message her, and her avatar is gone, plus no answer on The Yak Shack. Hasn't been online in I think about a month or so. Anyone know anything?

I'm posting here because I seem to be unable to click on any heading on the front page. If I click on "book blogs" for example I only get the heading for BCF, but no titles. Weirdness. Is it a glitch?

Saw this lovely quote, and knew y'all'd love it too. "Shelved rows of books warm and brighten the starkest room, and scattered single volumes reveal mental processes in progress -- books in the act of consumption, abandoned but readily resumable, tomorrow or next year". -John Updike, writer (18 Mar 1932-2009)

I suppose we are lucky here, in the Deep South [of U.S.], we've had a few nights here and there of freezing weather. The last two nights were down in the 20'sF. But today it is bright sunshine, and temps almost up to 60F. I'll take it! And be grateful.

Hey there Bree...! I tried to comment below, but it wouldn't post. Is there a limit on number of answers?

We bought a kobo...yays! It's pretty neat, and the price was right, on sale.

We drove down to the Gulf Coast today, just browsing about enjoying the resurgance of the area since Hurricane Katrina. It's wonderful to see the progress in the last few years. Mucked about in an indie book store, and had lunch and found some great shps. Happy day.

I suppose all you Brits know about this, but I didn't. I found it on facebook, it's a Wimp url... http://www.wimp.com/keepcalm/ I love it! I really do.

Hi! Sorry, just saw your post re Lake Pontchartrain. Yes, South East Louisiana, lovely area, very green and woodsy. The bridge that crosses the lake is interesting, take a look. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Pontchartrain_Causeway

Hey there Kylie.
Thanks, I can hardly believe how the forum has grown! Some good threads.
LOL Not weird at all, very sweet. And thank you. Your picture is great too, I always enjoy seeing what other posters really look like.
Yes, I've read the Benjamin Black series...Christine Falls and The Silver Swan. I enjoyed them, the protagonist is a wonderfully complex fellow, you'll enjoy them, I'm sure. Have you read The Book of Evidence? It's the first of the "trilogy", Ghosts being the second, and Athena the last. All feature our dear Freddie. lol
Banville is the only other author aside from VN that can make an unsavory protagonist into a sympathetic character. Definitely a gift!
Good luck on the closet conversion, it's the best thing I've done around here!

Hi wordsgood,
No, not familiar with Hobocth at all! You say you have a link? I'd be interested.
Re DG, yes! She writes so slowly, but I suppose considering she has a couple on the go at the time, what else?

LOL Inver, I couldn't resist the sign, I'm afraid I am addicted to coffee and chicory, CDM coffee, a local brew here in New Orleans. It's thick and strong.
I found that avatar when googling "blue moon", all kinds of interesting pics came up!
