  5. 'One True Theory of Love' by Laura Fitzgerald (bookring via Bookcrossing) This was a lovely, gentle read filled with a lovely mixture of characters. A modern day love story. Meg is a single mum and has brought up her son on her own after being abandoned by her husband when she fell pregnant. She is a kindergarten teacher and loves her job and her child, Henry (my favourite character I think). They meet Ahmed (and she falls for him immediately) purely by chance one weekend while they visit their favourite cafe where they play chess. Henry befriends Ahmed and a friendship is kindled. It doesn't all run smoothly, although Henry trys very had to get them together. Meg has concerns over her parents relationship, which seems to be on the rocks and her sister who is stuck in a rut in her family life too. All the higelty pigelty sorts itself out with a little help from Meg, but not always as you would hope. Another complication arises when Jonathan, Henry's dad appears on the scene and decisions have to be made their futures. 4/5
  6. In the post today a copy of Paper Lanterns by Christine Coleman. I have recently read it and ordered a copy for my friend's birthday and Christine has kindly written something inside for me. My friend's parents lived in Hong Kong a long while and she used to visit, so I am hoping she will enjoy the book.

  15. 'Paper Lanterns' ~ Christine Coleman A nice easy read. A lovely jumble of characters. After a call from her brother Ann travels to Hong Kong to search for the truth about her mother and why she left her at the age of 16. Finding letters and journals from her beloved grandmother she unearths secrets she was never aware of about her. She must also face the truth about her part in an event just before her 16th birthday. This all ties in nicely and explanations unfold and a mother and daughter renew their relationship. Christine brings to life the atmosphere of Hong Kong, where much of the books is based. 4/5

Yes ...interesting score for Aberdeen wasn't it..... Andy and Glendale were playing yes, but beaten 4-2. He scored though, but they should have scored more. Made up for it on Sunday though his U'13's did him proud by winning 14-0 ...yes you read it right. Was a cup game too. Shame it wasn't a league on though their goal difference would have pushed them up a bit.
  22. Oh heck another bookring arrived in the post today, whiy do the all arrive at the same time 'One True Theory of Love' by Laura Fitzgerald
