  1. :giggle: Hehe! Wouldn't it be great if one could click a button on a computer screen and get a nice glass of wine!!
  2. Congrats anyway. :)
  3. Really?! Oh that's so good! :D As you can see, I was really taken with the accent - I take it that it's not called an umlaut in Finnish? I'm glad to have given you a giggle - I did wonder if you'd spot it! :D

"Kell has no profile comments yet. Why not say hello?"

Did you delete all your profile comments or something? Mine are still on my profile from the old board.

    Anyway hello! :D

Coming Up For Air - I've just looked and it was first published in 1939.

I read Nineteen Eighty-Four and Animal Farm at school, and have re-read them again in the last 12 months. I've also read The Road to Wigan Pier and I have Down and Out in Paris and London on my 'to read' pile.

Now I'm almost forced to find you a pic of those boots, though.

    Oh, please do. :D

  9. Happy birthday, Paula. Have an awesome day. :)

  10. 5 A levels?! Well done you! :)

I'm good, thanks. My son did well at his GCSEs but since I posted he's got an apprenticeship which he loves. Nice to hear from you. x

  11. Ah no - I can see where you're coming from but it's actually Jason Merrells (Cutting It/Waterloo Road/Lark Rise to Candleford).

I'm into 'Lark Rise...' in a big way and JD (his character) and Dorcas (Julia Sawalha's character, who is also in my avie) are my big 'Ship/Fandom (whatever you care to call it) of the moment. They need to get together, dammit! :D

Ah, sad won't turn me off. :) I read the blurb this morning and thought it sounded lovelyand thanks to Amazon's search inside I read the first couple of pages and I love the writing style.

Was this made into a film will Gillian Anderson in it a few years ago? I've not seen it but it seems to be ringing bells.

I've got a 'book spa' treatment coming up soon where they recommend books (and I have

Aww - I didn't mean to make you apologise - I've just missed 'reading' you! Hope things calm down a bit for you so you have more time. :)

I'm good, thanks. Have been enjoying some unseasonably good weather (apart from on Saturday) - it's so lovely to see some sunshine.

How are you - apart from manically busy?!

  14. Aww bless you, thanks for thinking of me. I don't know what last night was all about. I just felt really sad and had an ominous feeling that something was going to happen, but of course nothing did and I feel okay again today.

Thanks again for your message. :friends0:

  15. Aww bless you! :friends0: Thanks for your kind words.

I hope that all is well in the world of Genevieve. I wish I could be poetical in what I write like you, but it's definitely not a talent I have. You, on the other hand, speak words of great beauty and sensitivity. x

  16. Aww, thanks Michelle. :friends0:

Work let me finish early today as we'd finished the pick, which was good. We went and put a plant on my Dad's grave and then went to Mum's for lunch, which was lovely.

I hope you're having a good day (and that you've warmed up a bit!). :)

  17. Better late than never - happy birthday! :D

Bonsoir mon amie! (bet I've spelt friend wrong!)

Anyway, I wondered whether you'd found your novel by a French author published in 1924. Not sure how reliable it is, but I found the following on Ebay, of all places!

    ht tp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/THE-SORROWS-OF-A-FAT-MAN.Henri-Beraud.French-Novel.1924_W0QQitemZ220344973859QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20090115?IMSfp=TL090115121002r22366

(Take the gap out between the ht and the tp at the start as you can't post URLs into profile messages.

    Voila!

ETA: Damn - scrap that - it says "The original French version was awarded the Prix Goncourt in 1922" at the bottom of the listing.

Cheers Mac. I intend to have a lovely Sunday now I'm home from work! :D Gotta love early starts/finishes!

You have a good day too. :)

  20. Cute, isn't he! :D

I like yours too - looks very welcoming. I miss having an open fire - mother-in-law has one and always lights it when we visit!

  21. GENEVIEVE!!! :friends0:

Lovely to see you back. :D I'm sorry to hear you've been unwell.

I am fine, thank you. Enjoying the school holiday (it's half-term here) and having the children home.

It's very good to hear from you. :)

  22. Good, thanks. :) I've just made bubble-and-squeak for our lunch out of yesterday's leftovers - it was rather yummy! Apart from that, I've done nothing really. I ought to go and do some ironing or something...!

How are you. Are you having a good day?

  23. Happy birthday - have a brilliant day. x

I love your profile background, btw - very stylish. :)
