  1. Written In Bone: hidden stories in what we leave behind, Sue Black
  2. Just finished The London Vampire by Lynn Shepherd. Absolutely marvellous!
  3. I don't think that they are necessary, either. Used them in the past but not now.
  4. Met the surgeon today and am much reassured. Pre-surgery assessment next and then, surgery.
  5. I have started Lynn Shepherd's The London Vampire, being in a Victorian, Gothic, vampire kind of mood. It's marvellous!
  6. Read Under Ground by E S Thomson, the sixth Jem Flockhart. As good as the others and just what I needed.
  7. Date for surgery, 16 November. I'm both terrified and looking forward to it in equal measure.
  8. The Melancholy of Resistance has been parked for a while and I've started The Woman In Me by Britney Spears.
  9. Things are improving, I'm a lot more comfortable now, managing my condition and sleeping better.
  10. Don't have a date yet. It'll be weeks though as specialist surgeons need to do the job.

Meanwhile, thank you for having me, you've been a joy. I'll do my best to get back.

And I have just managed to find some space…………Also I think that there are certain books that just need to be read on paper, my current Krasznahorkai for example.
  14. Aw thank you Poppy. I saw the doctor yesterday and he says it's not serious but requires blood tests. I fully intend to be back as soon as possible.
  15. Aw thank you itsmeagain, very nice of you to say so. Don't stop, I will be back.
  16. Hi Poppy and itsmeagain. I'm not feeling well so I'll bow out of this, temporarily, as inspiration (if I ever had any!) has deserted me and I don't feel like struggling with it. I WILL be back, sooner than later (it's nothing serious, just feeling a bit meh). Please carry on in the meantime without me, I very much look forward to seeing where the story goes.
  17. accent and the sound of his voice. Not to mention his angle, I felt that he always had an angle and I wasn't going to like it. 'No, it's not Bob Gallstone' the other voice said in a rather hurt tone. 'It's Pythagoras, I have a cold' She explained. Oh good grief! Pythagoras, not what I wanted at that precise moment in time. Why had I switched my 'phone on? And more to the point, how did I get from Cheryl Choke and Patty Puke's excellent all potato establishment in Wigtown to the side of the Thames? I must be losing my mind, I decided, when ................
