      June Supporter Giveaway   06/01/2019

For the June giveaway I chose the theme 'The Gift of Reading.' One that I think we can all appreciate! The winner will receive four books, including:     The Gifts of Reading by Robert MacFarlane - 'An essay on the joy of reading, for anyone who has ever loved a book.'   plus three little short but (hopefully) thought provoking reading gifts...   The Reckoning by Edith Wharton - 'Two moving stories of love, loss, desire and divorce, from one of the great chroniclers of nineteenth-century New York life.' Create Dangerously by Albert Camus - 'Camus argues passionately that the artist has a responsibility to challenge, provoke and speak up for those who cannot in this powerful speech, accompanied here by two others.' It Was Snowing Butterflies by Charles Darwin - 'A selection of Darwin's extraordinary adventures during the voyage of the Beagle.'    As always, supporting members will be entered automatically into the random draw at the end of the month. If you want to be entered into the draw but don't support yet, you can do so here: https://www.patreon.com/bookclubforum   Good luck

  1. Christmas Holiday 2018

Merry Christmas to all! So... was Santa Claus generous with you this year? How are you celebrating the birth of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? Here's a Christmas selfie to accompany my seasons greetings.
  2. Crush on an author?

Nice. Was she interested in becoming an author when the two of you met?
  3. New Year's

We know that the holiday season doesn't end with Christmas and, while Christmas might be the holiday that people focus on the most, we also have a New Year's party coming, right? So, what plans do you have for New Year's Eve? Do you have any resolutions for 2019?
  4. Crush on an author?

Have you ever had a crush (whether platonic or of any other type) on an author? Care to share a little bit about it in this thread? Other than his writings, what did you find fascinating about them? Their looks? Their personality? Any particular feature?
  5. Which is the most underrated book series you have ever read, in your opinion? Name the series that fascinated you so much and yet is considered mediocre at best by the majority of readers and critics.
  6. I would like some recommendations of Christian-themed young adult novels or short stories. I'm fascinated by Christian literature, and it puzzles me why young adult authors nowadays tend to ignore this genre.
  7. When is something an author's debut?

A debut book is the first book that a person publishes under their name, be that book fiction or nonfiction. However, if the author publishes something in a collective volume before publishing a book, his contribution to the collective volume would constitute his debut. I don't know if this would apply to publishing a story in a literary magazine.
