I'm spending a bit less time reading at the moment so I might not get to book 3 of A Song of Ice and Fire for a while.  When I read the first 2 books, I kind of find them a bit grim and brutal.  They seemed a little bereft of love between characters.  Still, I did enjoy them.

[The Fear Saga (trilogy) by Stephen Moss]

The three books in the series are 'Fear the Sky', 'Fear the Survivors' and 'Fear the Future'.  This is a fairly action-packed and engrossing tale of alien invasion.  The aliens are the ones to fear.  The descriptions of alien technology are amazing and detailed and leave you thinking maybe something like that is even possible.  Without giving too much away, the books are a little similar to the Terminator movies in that they involve incredible robots with fully developed personalities.  I found myself engaged by the character development of the aliens and robots often more so than the human protagonists.  The aliens and robots are all different in their motives and characters.   The technology becomes a little weird by the final book.  However, I still really enjoyed the series right up until the ending.

[A Short History Of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson]

I half listened to the Audible version and read the Kindle version.  It's written with a dry sense of humour and attempts (successfully) to make some fairly difficult scientific material understandable.  From the origin of the universe to geology to fossils to astronomy, you get a hint of the sheer scale of things.  Everything is told like it's a story full of characters making discoveries.  I found this narrative style could wander almost off topic from time to time and I would momentarily lose interest.  Maybe I needed the 'short history of almost nearly everything'.  Overall, a fun read.

Hi, I'm Dan from Australia. I like reading books on my Kindle App and also downloading the Audible content so I can listen in the car between reading on the screen.  I just read Alexandra Sokoloff's Huntress Moon.  I like sci-fi, fantasy, thrillers, and also a bit of romance.  I like Jojo Moyes and Harlan Coben. Strange mix yeah

Hi, I just finished reading this and found it a pretty good read. It's about a female serial killer who only kills bad people (like Dexter except she's idealised and beautiful). The writing style is a bit blunt almost crude at times. She mesmerises all the men she deals with because she's been traumatised in childhood and that gives her a wild quality that supposed to appeal to mitten. The ending was exciting so I'm giving the second book in the series a go.
