Autumn

It was great wasn't it? So good to have it back. Although I watched the first episode last week, I'm really tempted to re-watch series 1-5 before watching any more of the new series. Each series only has 5 or 6 episodes so I could probably binge watch them in a week or two.

I see these books are being adapted into a BBC adaptation, so I will need to get a wriggle on and find the time to read them. I've put it off so far because although I adore the Harry Potter series I really struggled with The Casual Vacancy and didn't get past the first chapter. Hopefully that won't be the case with these books.

I watched it last night as it aired, which is not something I usually do as I HATE adverts, but made an exception with Cold Feet. I loved it and can't wait for episode two. You would never have known that it's been 13 years since it last aired. I do still want to re-watch the rest of the series though!

I'm not going to lie - I'm really looking forward to seeing the new Bridget Jones movie. Didn't think much of the books but I do like the movies (particularly the first one).

I also seem to read quicker when I read books on a Kindle. I'm not sure why that would be the case... maybe because I'm not so aware of how much I've read due to the fact that most of my Kindle books don't have page numbers. One of the things that I dislike the most about reading on a Kindle is the fact that's it not so easy to look back at things. For example, I sometimes have to flick back a few pages to refresh my mind on where I'd got to, or who a certain character was etc. and that's just not as easy or as convenient as it is with a physical book.

Yay! So glad there's someone else like me out there. I topped up my phone with £40 of credit towards the beginning of the year and I still have £24 left.

I completely forgot about my Enid Blyton books and the beautiful hardback edition I had of the Narnia stories. Now I think about it I also had a copy of the complete Han Christian Andersen collection too. Oh, I really, really hope they're up in my parents attic. I will really need to get then to check for me - I really would love to to re-read them all again and I bet they're not all that easy to get hold of these days.

That would be amazing and I would certainly buy it again. My version of it is actually the German Region 2 version because I couldn't find a British one anywhere without paying way over the odds for it. It still works perfectly fine (although like you say it's not the greatest quality) but I do have to remember to turn the subtitles off as it automatically plays with them on.

Yeah, I do think some people tend to rely on their phones a little too much. I know it's a lifeline to a lot of people and it's always good to be able to contact people or be contactable in an emergency but you can't walk down the street these days without noticing that the majority of people are glued to their screens, texting, emailing etc. Don't they want to switch off sometimes? I could easily live without my mobile. Couldn't say the same about my iPod though, I love that thing to death and would never ever give that up. Not in a million years.

Sorry, I was planning on joining in with my first read-a-thon this weekend but after a crazy busy week at work I've been playing catch up, trying to get all the things I didn't get done during the week done this weekend so they don't roll on into next week. I will, without a doubt, be joining in with the next one though.

I must be one of the only people left on earth that still has a pay-as-you go. I have a Samsung Galaxy Fame (I think that's what it's called) and although it may not be as fancy as some of the ones out there right now I am perfectly happy with it. To be honest with you I only use mine for making/receiving calls and texting so I don't need anything more fancy than what I've got. I'm not into social media so I'm not on Facebook or Instagram and as I spend all day, every day on a computer at work the last thing I want to do is spend the rest of my time glued to the screen of my phone. I like keeping my phone as a phone, my laptop for computer work and my iPod for music. I don't like having one gadget that does everything - call me old fashioned but there you go, that's just the way I feel. * Not that there's anything wrong with being glued to the screen of your phone - it's just not for me!

I'm 35, which is a little scary I have to say. I'm a proper grown up and everything. Still feel about 19 though.

Will anyone be watching the new series of Cold Feet when it returns on Monday? I'm personally going to be recording it because although I can remember how it ended it would be nice to rewatch the entire series from the start so it's all fresh in my mind. So, that's what I'm going to do. If I can find the time that is, there just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day at the moment.

I've had to re-buy a number of books over the years because I just couldn't find my original copies. Ones I can think of off the top of my head are Charlotte's Web, the Anne of Green Gables series, Goodnight Mister Tom and Roald Dahl's back catalogue. I can't imagine that I've thrown them out or given them away because I just can't see me doing that (and I'm pretty sure I would remember if I had), so I'm hoping that they're in my parents attic space somewhere. I'm hoping that all my Point Horror and Sweet Valley High books are all up there too because I would love to one day re-read them. My parents are under strict instructions not to throw anything of mine away that they find up there without me giving them the okay because otherwise I will not be amused!

I have an old keyboard style Kindle and although I have approximately 650 books on there, I've probably not even read a quarter of them. Thankfully they're mainly ones I've either picked up for free or for no more than a couple of pound (if that). Although I don't mind reading books on my Kindle, or at least it's certainly not as bad as what I first thought it would be prior to me owning one, I find that I will always pick a physical book over an ebook if I have a choice as I find the whole reading experience so much more enjoyable. What with laptops and tablets and smartphones these days I find snuggling up with a good old fashioned book a fabulous way to unwind... and it gives me a break from modern technology for a while.

I adore Anne of Green Gables; it's one of my absolute favourites. But whilst I love the idea of bringing it to a new generation nothing will ever beat the original 1985 version - Jonathan Crombie (such a shame he passed away last year) is and always will be Gilbert Blythe *swoon* and yes, Megan Follows made the perfect Anne Shirley. I actually came across a version I had never seen before on television just the other day with Martin Sheen as Matthew and it was just wrong. So very, very wrong.

I actually have this book - although I think my copy has a white cover, so I might have a slightly different version - I bought it ages ago for inspiration and to get recommendations, but I never thought to incorporate it into a challenge. Fab idea and one I'd love to join in with if that's okay?

I originally wasn't going to purchase this book, but after the rave reviews by the media after the previews of the show about how amazing it was I caved in and pre-ordered it a few days before it was released. My main reasons for doing so was 1) it continues the story of Harry Potter and 2) I will probably never see the play. However, I've yet to pick it up, partly because of the reading slump I've been in but mainly because I'm worried it will be one big disappointment. I'm not too keen on the script format but I am willing to give it a go, just so I can get a glimpse into the magical world of Harry Potter again. I just have to go into with an open mind. It does annoy me that they're marketing it as the 8th Harry Potter book though because it's not a novel and it hasn't been written solely by J. K. Rowling. I really, really, REALLY wish she would write more Harry Potter books... maybe set around the time James and Lily were at school. How amazing would that be?!

I've just checked out LibraryThing and it's definitely not as nice looking as GoodReads and it does look like you have to pay if you want to add more than 200 books. A one off payment of $25 does seem pretty reasonable to me although I do wish the site looked a bit more inviting. It also says on the homepage you can also keep track of movies and music too and I do like the idea of being able to log movies as well as books. Hmmm... decisions, decisions. GoodReads or LibraryThing?

I'm not really a sports fan - usually the only sport I make an effort to watch is the tennis come Wimbledon time - but for some reason I was hooked on the Olympics this year and probably watched more sport in those two weeks then I have in my entire life. Weirdly the sport I loved the most was track cycling, to the point that I actually know what's going on now, although whether I'll remember in four years time is another matter! Loved the swimming too, it's just a shame the majority of that was on in the middle of the night for us.

I'm planning on joining you. Or at least I'm hoping to, providing I've regained my reading mojo by then..which fingers crossed I will have.

This sounds great to me. I particularly like the idea of being able to record when I read a book. Yeah, I don't think I would do this either as knowing me I would probably get sidetracked and instead of spending two minutes updating my reading status, I would end up spending hours browsing through reviews etc. I might update books read once a week or a couple of times a month maybe. Not necessarily every time I finish a book. This would really annoy me too. I'm thinking of signing up and using it solely to record when I've read a book, the date started and finished and probably a star rating too. I'm not sure I would actually write a review though.

I'm thinking of signing up on Goodreads as it would be nice to have a log of all the books I've read. I've had a good look at random people's profiles and it looks like some people tend to just log books when they've read them whilst others update multiple times per day with their reading progress. Overall it seems like it's a good community though.

I haven't read any of his standalone books, but have read a couple of the ones featuring Lincoln Rhyme. On a bit of a book buying ban though so have to borrow them from my library which means I'm reading random ones rather than in order. Gutted! I've never seen the TV show but have heard really good things about it and it definitely sounds like it's my kind of show. The books, however, not so much. I bought the first one in HMV earlier this year and I found it a bit blah. It was okay, but I didn't really see what the fuss was about. Thought it was a tad boring if I'm honest, but maybe subsequent books get better? Thanks for the great recommendations by the way! Love them!
