  1. I find longer books very intimidating too, however it's books over 500 pages or more, which I know cannot really be classed as "long books" I need to read more as I have a fair few books with 700, 800+ pages on my TBR. One of my resolutions next year might be to read a big book at least once a month or once every couple of months. I have the first Got book on my to read list but nervous about starting it.
  2. Please accept my apology because I honestly didn't mean to upset anyone. All I meant to say was I personally didn't think it would be a problem to continue form where Madeleine had last posted. Please don't feel you need to bow out. I dont want to cause upset not on this forum or anywhere.
  3. To be honest it's not a test, it's just abit of fun. So not sure why you would have to "try again." think it happens to everyone every now and then. It can especially happen if people are posting within seconds or minutes of each other. I wanna Be Adored by The Stone Roses
  4. This Property Is Condemned by Tennessee Williams
  5. Haha it's the same response each year that it's December, but they are so accurate! November was a slow reading month for me, so hoping to pick up this month. Not got anything in particular but probably concentrate on some Christmas books. My lovely friend got me a lovely gift from Tea Leaves and Reads and it included The Christmas Cookie Club by Ann Pearlman so perhaps that.

    Hello and Welcome
  7. Glad to see the forum back up Huge Thank you, Hayley
  8. sorry to hear about your reading slump. Hope those books helped. I have just finished The Sisters by Claire Douglas. I was highly disappointed in this, did not like it at all. I don't really know what to say about it to explain why without spoilers, but it was very disturbing and creepy. This is my first read by this author but I won't give her up as I think that is unfair on a first read. currently reading Murder At The Vicarage by Agatha Christie, I will admit I was a little bored at the start, but it's picking up and I am liking it.
  9. Finished two books yesterday. Mary Poppins In The Park more fun adventures with Ms Poppins and the Banks children. Deenie by Judy Blume. I liked this for the most part. The characters were good but I did not like the main character's mother who I felt was very selfish. The books are very quick paced. I am currently reading Operation Sunshine by Jenny Colgan it is okay.
  10. I am very much enjoying it, thanks I have seen the film a couple of times and as much as I quite liked it, the book is far better.
  11. I have read 106 pages of The Shining today. My partner wants to go on a walk tomorrow, so I will aim to read some more before and after. Hope everyone is enjoying their reading and anything else they may be doing this weekend
  12. When Claire Bixby was nine, she decided that one day she'd like to live in Hollywood, because she wanted to be in movies. The Doriss Day Vintage Film Club by Fiona Harper
