  1. Oh gosh, I think those books came out every 3 to 4 years so I think I would feel the same if I had read it without been able to have the next one to hand. I don't mind cliffhangers only if I can get the next one straight away. Its like watching a drama and you can't find out what happened til the week after, that's bad enough. I liked My (Not So) Perfect Life. Although not my most favourite.
  2. Did anyone know of Can You Keep A Secret was a film? I saw it on netflix as in I saw the trailer didn't watch it. I thought is that the Sophie Kinsella book? It is adapted from and it is. Think I might give it a go when I am in the mood. In other SK related news I have just started the next in the shopaholic series. Shopaholic to the stars. I read 3 of these books last year i just became hooked. Think I'll have finised the series by the end of the year seeing as there are only 2 left after this one.
  3. Happy reading in 2021 I do hope you find something to hold your interest soon.
  4. Happy reading! hope you enjoy some wonderful books this year.
  5. I love these Favourite book cover The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory has a rather nice cover. The Red Pony by John Steinbeck. I'm going to give the latter the prize as I actually enjoyed the book. Most read Author Jacqueline Wilson with 7. Four of which were rereads. Followed by Sophie Kinsella and Jacob Grimm with 6 each. Not Worth Bothering with The Sisters by Claire Douglas. I found it boring from the start and the plot twist was really weird. Coraline by Neil Gaiman. I struggled so much with this. I felt bad too because every review on goodreads apsrt from one or two were 4 and 5 stars. I do not regret reading them though. I can just say they were straight up 1 stars for me. Biggest Let Down I would say the last couple of books in the Narnia series by C S Lewis. I loved the first 3 books and then they just went down hill. Children's Book Recommendation I reread Two Bad Mice by Beatrix Potter and it is a story I loved as a child. Still thought it was rather good now. Short and sweet. I will also highly praise the That's Not My... books by Fiona Watt aimed for the very little ones. Recommended classics I did not read many classics this year but one I did read and would recommend in a heartbeat is East Of Eden by John Steinbeck. I had watched the film and liked it a lot but I loved how much the book gave so much more. I am looking forward to reading Grapes Of Wrath. Favourite literary character Mary Poppins. Julie Andrew's magnificent performance of the nanny i didnt think the original could be any different. But she is slightly she is more stern but I prefer that. I think she's rather grand. I do still love the film version. Will also say Rebecca Brandon née Bloomwood. She can be annoying at times but she's a sweetheart. Funniest Book Gavin and Stacey From Barry to Billericy. I think you would have to had watched and preferably enjoyed the television series to like this book . Favourite Biography Spectacles by Sue Perkins
  6. The fish were staring at her Inside Strangers' Houses by Elizabeth Mundy
  7. Happy New Year, everyone I have read Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark by Alvin Schwartz which I loved and because I am planning on reading all of Jacqueline Wilson books I have just read Lizzie Zipmouth. Not one of my favourites from her. I am currently reading Inside Stranger's Houses by Elizabeth Mundy. I don't really have much thought to this so far. Not much has happened so I am hoping it will pick up soon. Hope everyone has a great reading month of January!
  8. What a lovely, thoughtful gift the writing desk is Just wanted to wish everyone of you a Very Merry Christmas and a happy new year. (And a wonderful couple of days anyway for anyone who doesn't celebrate) Here is to to a happy, healthier, brighter and more outdoorsy 2021 where hugs with loved ones are encouraged.
  9. I've just seen I'll be ticking the next box down in February. How cruel
  10. Casablanca Really need to make time to watch the classics. I used to be obsessed with them as a teenager.
  11. It was Midsummer's Eve. This is the most magical night of the year. Many curious things can happen in it before it gives way to the dawn. Mary Poppins in Cherry Tree Lane by P L Travers
  12. I was looking up short Christmas tales to read and came across Christmas Everyday by William Dean Howells. A wonderful story.
  13. I think including the 4th is a fantastic idea. At least for myself not starting back at work til the 5th.
  14. I find longer books very intimidating too, however it's books over 500 pages or more, which I know cannot really be classed as "long books" I need to read more as I have a fair few books with 700, 800+ pages on my TBR. One of my resolutions next year might be to read a big book at least once a month or once every couple of months. I have the first Got book on my to read list but nervous about starting it.
