  1. Hope everybody had a good weekend. I booked a couple of days off work and had a long one as it was my birthday yesterday and I refuse to work my birthday if I can help it. Had a lovely weekend went to a 1980s house party on Saturday then met up with my friend yesterday for some lunch and see a film. Saw Sing which was good. 27 but still love my animated films. Then today went out for a wander round the shop and some lunch with my mum's mum and my dad's mum now at home and doing a little tidying. Hope you enjoy your new car, Madeleine
  2. Yes just the 7 out of all the ones I have read. I haven't read lots though, but I did become abit too generous with my five stars. So I am saving those for the books that really make me feel happy or when I can't stop thinking about the book after I have finished it. That's good thank you, I'll get there eventually haha.
  3. Is this for the Three Sisters Three Queens novel? And who is the narrator?
  4. I haven't brought my book to work but I am hoping to finish 2 out of the 3 I have on my currently reading shelf. It's annoying not having my book but at least it will prompt me to go out on my lunch because there are things I need to get for the weekend. Looks like there have been a lot of good reads for people lately which is nice to see
  5. I love these type of threads so wanted to do this one 1) Read only trilogies or stand alones? Stand alones 2) Read only male or female authors? Interestingly enough, I had read more books by male authors than female but I think I would choose female if I had to 3) Shop at a book shop or online? First choice would be at a book shop, that to me is like being a kid in a sweet shop. However, still quite like looking online too. 4) All books become movies or TVs shows? Both 5) Read five pages per day or five books per week? I would prefer five books per week but that is unlikely to happen, but will still choose that one 6) Be a professional reviewer or author? Neither haha. Author more so. 7) Only Read your top 20 favourite books over and over or only read new ones you haven't read before? Without a doubt new ones I haven't read before. With all the books out there it has to be done. Also my to read pile is over 1000 where as my read is over 200, so that speaks for itself 8) Be a librarian or book seller? I think a book seller. 9) only read your favourite genre or every genre except your favourite? This is a tough one, but I would have to go with my favourite. 10) Read only physical books or e-books? 100% physical books. They're just love!
  6. Happy Birthday to Helen Fielding! Another favourite of mine born in my month Also a very happy 86th to Toni Morrison for yesterday.
  7. I thought the same. Last year my first one star was in march and then not again til October, which was a nice stretch. I am lucky I have only rated 7 books one star in total. But I only rate books that I finish. Did you decide to leave The Couple Next Door for now? Hope you enjoyed your splurge, Chesilbeach
  8. I wonder if the weather or time of year can have an affect on your mood to read. I've just recently started reading as I usually do after a couple of weeks where the thought of reading just gave me a headache. Hopefully you'll feel good enough to enjoy your reading soon enough I just finished A Tiny Bit Marvellous by Dawn French. Very very disappointing. I did not like any of the characters, the teenager daughter was disgusting and the storyline itself wasn't anything new or original. It's my first 1 star rating of the year (hopefully not many more of them to come)
  9. That's brill! Keep up the good work thank you so much
  10. Welcome, Katie I Haven't read a huge amount of his work but Stephen King is a favourite of mine too.
