    hello

Hi and welcome, do you have any favourite authors?
  5. those thrillers all have similar covers don't they, some of them are so dreary they almost put me off reading them! Have enough grey stuff outside as it is!
  6. And now it's raining, windy too, had to hold on to the brolly!
  7. The Chalk Pit by Elly Griffiths - unbelievably, this is the 9th book in the Ruth Galloway series, and as usual it starts with the discovery of some bones in a "secret" tunnel under the city of Norwich, found when a local architect has a survey done with a plan to build an underground restaurant. His plans are seriously thrown out when Ruth reveals that the bones are probably only about 10 years old, therefore work has to stop as it could possibly be a murder victim. Then 2 homeless men are stabbed to death, one on the steps of the police station, and women start to go missing, including one who is the partner of one of the police team investigating the cases. This was another enjoyable read, with Ruth's daughter Kate now growing up, and more developments in Ruth's already complicated private life. 7.5/10
  8. I'm off too on Saturday, hope the weather is better but I think it will be the same ie sunshine and showers.
  9. My book buying is always out of control I loved Water for Elephants, one of my favourite books.
  10. We're just saying the same thing - how is it August! And the nights are already getting darker earlier....
  11. Ooh anything with a nice landscape/seascape cover, or those historical covers with a woman in a lovely dress against a castle background, or a lovely house.
  12. I didn't like the Tenth circle very much either, in fact I've gone right off her books now, although I may still read Plain Truth at some point. I liked The Pact and Salem Falls though.
  13. Had a nice meal out last night with some friends I haven't seen for ages, just went shopping today, and had our guest dog stay until this morning, so we managed a walk yesterday before it started raining.
  14. Rained most of last night off and on, including an absolute deluge around 4.00 which woke me up, but so far no rain today, contrary to the forecast, and it's not been too bad.
  15. This morning was quite nice, but started raining around 12.30 and hasn't stopped since, horrible,
  16. I think I remember the TV version of Silent Voices - I have the Vera books but they seem to film them quite quickly before I read them! Unlike Shetland which has deviated completely from the Perez books. Brenda Blethyn is great as Vera, so shambolic, and she seems nice in real life too.
  17. Congratulations Will - not jealous at all!
  18. I really enjoyed this, thought it was a ripping yarn! Perhaps it's just too well known now?
  19. Yes they can be tacky but enjoyable! Just got "The Black Friar" by S G MacLean (2nd in the Damian Seeker historical crime series, set during Oliver Cromwell's "reign")
  20. Not sure if it's still raining, but it looks very damp.
