  5. Welcome and I hope you enjoy the site and get some good ideas for reading.
  6. I see you're reading 'Demelza' - loved it.
  7. It's been a lovely day in the south east, well, in comparison to the lousy days we've had so far this last week.
  8. ...pride. Now his father might finally have some respect for him and stop bragging about his exploits in some foreign, far flung war. Now it's time to show him that he, Bertram Horace Wilberforce, could live up to the family name and expectations. He would soon show them what an undercover agent looks like. He couldn't wait to announce to his father that the son would outdo the father a hundred times. Then it dawned on him: that conversation could never take place if he were to become the greatest undercover agent since...
  9. "...assume, Annabelle, that this is the young lady you told me about?" "You may, and you'd be correct. You will report directly to Trixie but I am moving into this department too and we shall be sharing responsibility for your...

  16. I've just finished listening to the audio version of Bill Bryson's 'The Road to Little Dribbling'. It's great. He doesn't sound such a happy bunny these days but his observations on the things that are concerning him about the UK are witty, wry and worth considering. Excellent value, 11 CDs. Edit: I'm not sure if I should have started a new thread, I just didn't know where to put this - please move it if it should be somewhere else!

    Hi

Hi and . I hope you find some really good books! Hope you have some time to read over the Christmas holidays.
  19. Megan. I look forward to seeing you around the forums.
  20. Same here, Shirley - I need more time to read. I'm reading a thriller at the moment but I have a nice Christmas short story next in line.
  21. I only found out, OB, because I was alerted to one of my books (I'm a writer) being on their tbr list. I took a look at the list and nearly fell off my chair! The chance of them ever reading my book is pretty slim, or even none at all! It's nobody on here, of course. We're all far too sane.
  22. On another forum I saw someone with over 9,000 books on their TBR. I find it hard to comment on that! I have about 40 in the queue on my Kindle.
  23. I love reading and have so little time to read! However, this site has alerted me to a couple of good books that I got stuck into and enjoyed, so I hope it will do the same for you.
