  1. I restarted The Hobbit, by JRR Tolkien, and this time I intend to finish. "In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit."
  2. I watched Videodrome, by David Cronenberg, the other day. It's a very particular thriller, with vivid supernatural imagery. I actually dreamed about it later. The director has some other movies in the genre with strange synopses.
  3. I got Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled, I wasn't expecting it to be hard. I read that there's a habit one should build in order to get used to the controls, I'll try it eventually. I still haven't won the introductory race.
  4. Hi, it's nice to talk to you again, Athena. I wish you a good reading year too, and a good year for everything else.
  5. Hey. Now that I've acquired a regular reading habit I thought I would return to start a new thread. 06/02/18 . Walking - Thoreau, Henry David 13/02/18 . Silence: In the Age of Noise - Kagge, Erling 09/03/18 . The Catcher in the Rye - Salinger, J.D. 04/05/18 . The Remains of the Day - Ishiguro, Kazuo Currently reading "Never Let Me Go", by Kazuo Ishiguro.
  6. It's okay. Hope you enjoyed the road trip. The weather here is mild, with some rain spells, as usual in winter.
  7. It would also hinder you from working in a bookshop, because you would scan one product and the customer would have to pay for your favourite book too.
  8. I watched Song to Song in the cinema, so I was able to follow the mood. I think I prefer the cinema to watch this type of slow, arthouse films, because I can't watch these movies at home in one sitting and there are other distractions. It's a good film; I didn't particularly enjoy it, but I felt satisfied in the end.
  9. As I read Phillip K. Dick's book, I can't help but notice some images here resemble parts of its story that weren't in the first movie.
  10. There's a full trailer for the new Blade Runner movie:
  11. Late night for a bossa nova classic.
  12. Hi, I just want to say that I really like this new look, it's so clean and pleasant.
  13. You must have books in every wall, or a very big wall somewhere. I have some books as well, though not nearly as many.
  14. At first I struggled with the film, because it was more focused on superficial questions by common people about philosophy, feminism and art in a way that I felt annoying. However, I kept watching and started to enjoy it once I knew the characters. I agree that Annette Bening had a good performance, I think her character was a bit complex; I also liked Greta Gerwig's performance.
  15. I'm still overwhelmed about last night's Barcelona win, it was outstanding. Those players showed immense character and never gave up when everyone would understand it. Has anyone else watched the match?
  16. This afternoon I had some time in the afternoon, and with no one to hang with I bought a book, which was Go Set a Watchman, by Harper Lee; I'm enjoying it, perhaps I'll read some more tonight. I also bought an ice cream, I think a little cheat doesn't hurt.
  17. I played it for a bit in a store this afternoon and, although I didn't know the controls or the mechanics, I enjoyed it. I picked up from this snowy and wuthering area and escaped to greener fields, where there were some cabins. I couldn't interact with them, but I peeked through a door. Then I climbed a nearby waterfall and didn't feel like coming back down.
  18. I'm glad things are going smoother, frankie.
  19. I'm kind of interested, but I don't have the time and energy to play videogames that I used to have. I haven't finished the games I have for the PS4 yet. I bought The Last Guardian last week and I'm really enjoying it.
  20. Jackie's composer is Mica Levi, I'm a fan of her work in Under the Skin. I haven't seen Jackie yet, but I enjoyed La La Land's soundtrack. As for the Oscars, I'd be glad if Casey Affleck and Mahershala Ali got their awards, because I thoroughly enjoyed their performances - however, there's so much I haven't seen that I don't have an opinion on who should win. From the films I watched, I preferred Manchester by the Sea's plot, but I felt La La Land and Moonlight were better directed.
  21. I watched La La Land yesterday in the cinema and I have so much to say about it I'd need to write a full-fledged article. But, I think the fact that I'll definitely watch it again in the cinema is enough to show how much I enjoyed it. It doesn't do anything different or smart, at least from what I can perceive; everything has a sort of normal, classic approach. It also has one of those plots I enjoy, simple and in which good things don't happen unless there's a context for them. I also enjoyed Manchester by the Sea, I watched it some two weeks ago and perhaps I could watch it again - I'm not used to watch films I like in the cinema, so I should enjoy it while I can.
  22. City of stars, are you shining just for me...
