So very late to this party, but for what it's worth, here are my two cents: I second this! (Jumping up and down waving my arms in the air) I absolutely love the Thursday Next series and couldn't recommend it more highly. Probably my favorite series. Another great recommendation. His style is rather haunting and quite unique. He has several wonderful titles to choose from, many at the length you wanted.

You're the only person I've ever known with your name, so to find a book with your name in the title was quite surprising to me!

It's rotten getting sick right after being sick. Hopefully this will cheer you up. I was book hunting yesterday and came across a book that made me think of you. I got a good chuckle over it.

I have a bit of a mess going for myself. I'm a quarter of the way through The Girl Who Saved the King of Sweden, a little over halfway through The Shadow of the Wind, and just bought and am four or five chapters into The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry. (Apparently, a prerequisite for inclusion on my current reading list is having no fewer than five words in the title.) I need to just settle down and read one thing, but I keep stumbling across great deals on great books. Marie, I see that you're in the same boat.

Gaia, one of your other posts got me to thinking about this, then I saw another post for a different read-a-thon. Now I have read-a-thorns on the brain. Is ours next weekend or the following? I thought next weekend, but then I thought I might be wrong.

I didn't know it was, either. Ironically, I was thinking about next weekend's BCF read-a-thon when I saw this post. I'm having a crafty afternoon, but will be doing some reading later tonight.

I haven't gotten a hold of the other ones yet, so I'm in no hurry, but if anyone finds themselves starting the series, let me know and I'm happy to read along.

I've been feeling crafty lately, so I'm taking a break from reading tonight to do some sewing. I found a fabric that I love on sale for $2.50/yard and am using it to make a little spring/summer skirt. I'm winging it with no pattern, so let's see how it goes. Right now I'm onto hand sewing the hem before I move onto gathering the skirt. I probably won't attach the waistband until tomorrow. I'm still a bit undecided as to how I want to approach that, so it's best to do it when I'm fresh, I think.

More praise! I put it on my wishlist based on Claire's review as well. Now I'm even more excited for the U.S. release date.

Wow, it sounds fantastic. I just went on the Kindle store to download a sample, but it's not available in the States yet. It won't be released until St. Patty's Day, March 17.

Would anyone be interested in doing a read along for The Giver quartet? I just finished reading the first one, but would be happy to read it again so we could all start from square one. There has been so much positive talk about the first one, but it doesn't seem like many have read on in the series. If anyone is interested in joining in, just let me know. Also, they really are easy (yet amazing, based on the first book) reads and under 200 pages, so I think fairly easy to squeeze in.

Actually, aquatic therapy was part of my physical therapy regimen for a year or so following my surgery. I'd like to join a pool if I can this year. That's interesting about the water. It makes sense, but I've never heard that before. Congrats on the blender! I used to make the all the time with my Magic Bullet until it broke.

Thanks everyone! It was one of those rare instances where I went into it with zero expectations. A friend's daughter was reading it for seventh grade Reading class and needed help reviewing for the test. I was ashamed to admit that I had never read it before, so when I saw it for $1.99 on Kindle, I had to jump at it. I'm so glad I did!
