  1. Witt series is fantastic. Mel Smith played the role beautifully in the TV version. Porterhouse Blue is another classic. David Jason played this one in the TV series!! Just goes to show how highly thought of Tom Sharpe is. As always, though, the books are better than the TV series
  2. Very good read. Emotional and moving ending. Historically a bit ropy but a good read nevertheless.
  3. What a book! This is an emotionally charged & historically accurate, moving story, based on true characters, albeit with different names.. From start to finish it switches between the 1940's and present day with the main character having been broken by WW2. Through soul searching he explores his past and releases his bottled up emotion. The love and romance in Italy brings a tear to the eye. I have ordered 'The Burning Blue' - anyone else read it?
