  1. Yes, unfortunately I misspelled Gaiman. I’d never read any of his books, so I bought the 99p Kindle offer.
  2. UK Kindle Daily Read today with Neverwhere by Neil Gaimer for 99p
  3. I probably laughed a little too much! 😀😆
  4. I’m waiting for the flu vaccine & covid 4th vaccine, though have no idea when they’ll be. Hopefully soon.
  5. UK Kindle daily deals has The Complete Novels of George Orwell: Animal Farm, Burmese Days, A Clergyman's Daughter, Coming Up for Air, Keep the Aspidistra Flying, Nineteen Eighty-Four (Penguin Modern Classics) Kindle Edition for 99p today.
  6. Hi Mike, and welcome to the forum 🙂
  7. The tomatoes are great, and we’ll probably get a glut of them soon!
  8. Just the people who don’t qualify for free flu vaccine will have to pay at Pharmacies. You would normally qualify for being your Dad’s carer, and still get it. I’ve looked at criteria in Boots chemist website for who get it free, though it’s not very helpful, for me. I have been getting it free for years (as I had a stoke), but it doesn’t actually mention stroke as a criteria for free flu vaccine! I’ll just wait until I get a text message for my GP, when they are in stock of vaccine & clinics organised. That’s the usual way anyway.
  9. Oh heck! Mind you, it could take some time, possibly October, before they have the flu vaccine clinics for 50+ age group. *sign*
  10. Had the first taste of our ripe cherry tomatoes today. They were lovely.
  11. Congratulations on your first house!
  12. UK Kindle daily deals has Susanna Clarke’s Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell for £1.29 today.
  13. Yesterday it was 34°C, and now it’s maximum 20°C!
  14. Giving up on E. Nesbit’s The Lark for the time being, as the characters & the style of the novel grates on my nerves! So started on Jacqueline Winspear’s An incomplete Revenge (#5 Maisie Dobbs series).
  15. Whispers Underground was a really good book, so I think you will love it. It’s the best of the series for me.
  16. Plodding through 26% of E. Nesbit’s The Lark. I do hope things get better
  17. Hello NoLongerHuman, and welcome to the forum 🙂
  18. Salad, salad, salad here too! But it’s limited with tomatoes & lettuce etc. Did enjoy cold pasta, deli pulled ham hock and a dressing of 0% strained Greek yogurt & red pesto. I’m on a diet (2 stone lost since March and 2 more stones to loose) plus I’m borderline type 2 diabetes, so it’s hello to the Mediterranean diet and 1,000 calories per day!
  19. Yesterday maximum was 29°Celsius, and today maximum was 15°C!
  20. Finished Ben Aaronovitch’s The October Man (Rivers of London #7.5) Not long now for Aaronovitch’s new book Among Our Weapons . Eleven days to go. Now starting Rhododendron Pie by Margery Sharp, the first of her novels. Seems good so far, as it’s very similar style to Elizabeth Jane Howard’s The Cazalet Chronicles.
  21. 71% read of Ben Aaronovitch’s The October Man (Rivers of London #7.5) and hopefully finish soon. Finished The Sad Ghost Club: Volume 1 by Lize Meddings, which I really enjoyed. In the doldrums with Hope for the Best (The Chronicles of St Mary's #10) by Jodi Taylor in Audible. Just can’t seem to get into this book atm
  22. Glorious sunny weather in Shropshire today, though the easterly breeze was chilly in the morning. 18°C in the afternoon was lovely.
