  1. ugh - so almost all the way through September and still havent finished The Hunt for the red October. lots of reasons - too technical, new job, have been spending time knitting instead, and also I watched the film instead so reading the book felt a bit surplus. Think I will have to put this one aside and start reading something else to get my mojo back
  2. Hello and welcome Sabry! Hope you will enjoy it here! I am reading Game of Thrones too - A storm of swords is definitely the best one so far! I am currently reading a dance with dragons (well I have taken a break - it is a bit slow going)
  3. Good luck with the job offers muggle! It's always tricky when you arent sure of what to do but it usually works out in the end! I have now started my new job and oh my - there is a lot to take in and get used to! VERY different from my old job, where I could kind of sit back, and do my own thing in the background, whereas this is very hands on - lots of input etc. My boss wants me to start phoning the rest of the team to introduce myself etc - very scary in my view - can't I just eamil then?? haha I did want a job with more responsibilities and challenges and a step up the ladder so I guess this is what happened! Hopefully I'll get used to it soon - they all seem really nice so far anyway!
  4. I have turned 25 6 times! (I think)
  5. I'm still trodding through the hunt for red october. I like it because it gives a lot more detail than in the film, and the descriptions of the cold war is really interesting. at some points it gets a bit too descriptive of various names and military codes etc but I guess it's required for the book!
  6. thank you very much - I really love those two pictures from the day - with my closest friends and my husband (!) still waiting for the photographers photos to come through, so hopefully there will be some nice ones there too!
  7. Was going to post this in the August thread, but it was closed so will be here Here's some photos from when we got married on the 30th - was a really great day - very relaxed and just us and some of our closest friends Now that is over and done with I will be busy finishing up work here, and starting my new job on the 9th. I think I get a replacement in for me tomorrow so I can train her up, but it's going to be a busy next four days!
  8. Thinking of you both today. X

  9. Not been able to read much this weekend but after finding it on my kindle I devided to give hunt for red october a go. That will be the first type of book i have read in that genre so could be hit and miss. I really love the movie though (bit of a guilty pleasure along with the rock )
  10. I just finished The Secret Keeper, by Kate Morton Now I am trying to decide what to read next It's between North and South - Elisabet Gaskell The Shadow of the Wind - Carlos Ruis Zafon Gone with the wind- Margerath Mitchell The Red Queen - Philippa Gregory
  11. Well, I just finished The Secret Keeper by kate Morton, and I have to say I really liked it. Although it felt a bit slow to start, it got really addictive towards the end and I am really glad I decided to stick with it.
  12. lol - very true.. it mustbe hard judging someone on their first efforts - you never really know how much is spoilt by nerves etc. it's a shame. maybe it would have been an idea to have noone leave in the first episode and then base the decision on the first two or something.
  13. Sense and Sensibility was on tv yesterday (the one with Emma Thompson and Hugh Grant) unfortunately I was knackered so only managed to watch the first bit, before I went to bed. I guess I have to finish it by watching the dvd again at some point Am thinking I may have to read a classic soon-possible an Austen one
  14. I had totally missed this was coming back on Tuesday and only found out when my friend asked me if I've seen it - thank goodness for iplayer! I thought the cakes looked awesome for the first show - especially the sandwich cakes- makes me want to bake again! (I seem to bake more in the autumn / winter anyway so it's probably coming up to baking season for me) might have to give the grapefruit one a go! I can decide on any favourites yet, but I did think the wrong person was sent off, although, said person did put salt in the cake instead of sugar...
