  1. I would throw all of Thomas Hardy's books on! I think the last book to go would have to be Anne of Green Gables as it has so many memories of my childhood.
  2. I think I would want to be Phillip Pullman. I think his books are beautifully written and I admire his bravery taking on such a controversial subject matter.
  3. This is just a small section of a much larger quote from "The Amber Spyglass" by Philip Pullman. "But they were trying, all the same. They'd go on trying until the end of everything." I love the paragraph this comes from so much and sometimes I just take the book of the shelf to re-read it again.
  4. I really like a series as I get very invested in characters and I like to have more to read about them. I do prefer it though when one story comes to an end and the next story picks up the same characters on a different adventure. I don't like having to wait for the next part if it follows a Cliff Hanger. I'm currently in the middle of the Game of Thrones series and I'm beginning to get a little bored of it but after five books I feel like I have to stick it out so that is one draw back of a series. I'm also getting a little worried as I don't know when it's going to end!
  5. I often re-read books. I've read all of the Harry Potter books countless times, Anne of Green Gables, Jane Eyre, Little Women, Pride and Predjudice, Karin Slaughter's Atlanta series and hundreds of others. I find that I often enjoy a book more the second time around. I would find it very, very difficult if I was told I could never read any of these books again. In fact, if I could choose between only reading old books again and getting to read new books I think I would have to go with my old favourites.
  6. I don't really like a lot of description - particuarly when someone is describing landscape or a room, so I often skip that. It does sometimes mean I skip something relevant though and end up not understanding what is going on later.
  7. I suppose like anything else it comes down to a matter of supply and demand. The more people are willing to pay, the more something can cost. I do think though that as sites like Amazon are selling books cheaper and cheaper, high street book shops are going to have to lower their prices if they want to compete over time.
  8. I found that when I was at school I ended up enjoying lots of books that were on the reading list. The same was true at University. I really loved Lord of the Flies, Dracula and lots of the Shakespeare. There were some I didn't enjoy but I think that because I'd been made to read them I ended up with an experience I wouldn't have otherwise got. I also found that when I was a member of a book club and had to read other people's choices it really expanded the sort of books I was reading. What I do think is hard is when you are stuck reading a book you hate and can't stop because it is for school or University!
