  1. I'm hoping for the best for Honey.

Mabel seems to be doing better on the new food and different amount/type of meds. It's been two days now without her throwing up. We do have to feed and medicate her 4 times a day. Luckily my work allows for that. I think that her walking so slow and such is do to pain in her back. I've been keeping an eagle eye on her. She stole a shoe from the hall and was proudly prancing around with it to show how well she can find objects...so her fun spirit is starting to shine through. Luckily. I miss my frolic dog. She has such a sence of humor.

  2. Worked at my volunteer job at the local high school library then just chilled as it was raining all day. And, it was only 13 degrees celcius outside. Yesterday it was 23 degrees and sunny and warm and perfect. I despise weather changes like this. The only good thing is that the ground was really dry and it needed to drink.

Tomorrow if it's dry I need to get some gardening done so that the rain doesn't give the weeds a huge burst of growth. We have this one weed that is almost impossible to get out of the ground. It travels via roots and any tiny piece left behind grows bigger until it takes over the garden. The only positive thing about this weed is that in an event of famine you can eat it.

Aegopodium Podagria is the latin name.

  3. Isn't it wonderful the way dogs can greet you like they haven't seen you in ages. They are such loyal friends. Enjoy your homecoming and any slobber you may get..

  4. update! They haven't the finest idea what is making Mabel throwup so much. Extra pills, new diet food for the kidneys (just in case). And, if at the end of this week things haven't changed, we will have an echo made of her tummy and see is there is anything in there giving her cause to puke. Today as gone well...so far.

The vet even went to far as to go for a small with with us to see if she could notice anything amiss. Mabel did all her bodily functions which told a positive tale. But, the vet noticed that her back was a bit stiff and probably giving her some pain. Which may be why she is so slow with walking. It's just difficult to have an elderly dog who was always 'young in spirit' suddendly turn into an old lady. I'm trying to keep positive about this. I do love my mutt.

  5. Sounds lovely, you do eat some nice things!  Do you think a tagine would work with chicken, I've always fancied trying one but we don't eat red meat..

It works fantastic with chicken. Look on youtube or google some very nice recipies. Even fish can be done in a tagine. It gives such good flavor. I've done a chicken dish with green olives which was lovely.

  6. Tonight I got the Tagine out and made a lambs dish with green beans. So very lovely. Next to that I tried out the new Clay cooking pot I got from a girlfriend and made a Lemon Chicken. It was great. Couscous and Morroccan bread by. A cucumber salad and sliced mangos finished it off.

  7. I was susposed to work in the gaarden today. Instead I vegetated and did nothing. Absolutely nothing. except walk my dog and cook dinner. Then when Hubby got home, we ate and went for a wonderful bicycle ride in the rural area. It was wonderful weather for it and except for some saddle pain, I faired pretty well. I love bike riding. We plan on doing more of this.

  8. Charlie so sorry to hear about your Honey. I also have not heard of that particular disease. Good luck with the Vet visit. Hope it's positive. I agree with your mantra. I keep an eagle eye on my pets. We used to have two cats but unfortunately they both passed of old age.

BB, I'm so glad Reuben is doing better. The eating can be a side effect of the whole operation. Hopefully he will settle down in a week or two.

Mabel is very sluggish and did barf on saturday night/sunday morning. I woke up to it. Not nice. I have to call the vet tomorrow for an update. More later. I hope that soon all of us will only have positive things to say about our lovely pets.

  9. I read this last year on my hols & really enjoyed it but there were parts of it that made me cringe. Some of the descriptive parts of it when he was with his boyfriend made my toes curl :blush2:

I finished The Island by Victoria Hislop over the weekend & have made a start on Bleak House  Charles Dickens.

I read The Island for our Real Life book club a few years ago. I really enjoyed it. Hope you did too.

  10. Chrissy, have a wondeful time. We've still yet to book our vacation. Don't have the faintest idea when or where yet.

Tomorrow I hope to get a bit more of our garden cleared out. It's my free day and the garden is calling me ... can you hear it?!
