  1. I have now read (minus the book I'm currently reading) 55550 pages exactly .
  2. I downloaded two free Kindle short stories: Abby Clements - The Christmas Bake Off Patrick Yearly - A Lonely Dog on Christmas And I traded two of my physical books at the mini library near here, for: Joanne Harris - Chocolat 1: Chocolat (Dutch translation) Donna Tartt - De Verborgen Geschiedenis (The Secret History)
  3. James Dashner - The Maze Runner 1: The Maze Runner Genre: Science-fiction Age-range: Young-Adult Format: Paperback Pages: 371 Date Read: 10-11-2014 <-> 11-11-2014 Synopsis (GoodReads):When the doors of the lift crank open, the only thing Thomas remembers is his first name. But he's not alone. He's surrounded by boys who welcome him to the Glade - a walled encampment at the centre of a bizarre and terrible stone maze. Like Thomas, the Gladers don't know why or how they came to be there - or what's happened to the world outside. My thoughts: On BCF we were doing a group read of The Maze Runner book series, so I decided it would be a great time to read this book. This book was pretty good. It's suspenseful and there is a lot of action. For a long time you don't really understand a lot of what's going on. I found it really interesting to find out more about what was going on and how things worked. The action was quite good and I wanted to keep on reading to find out what would happen. The characters were all pretty good (though I could've done with some more female characters perhaps). I thought the new sort of words and language used by the characters was well done, though in the beginning it took me a bit of time to figure out what it meant. I really want to read the second book now. Not all questions are answered, which makes sense since it's part one of the series (I believe it's a trilogy with the fourth book being a prequel?). I want to find out more and want to know what's going to happen. That all said, I think the first book ended in a good place. Overall then I quite enjoyed reading this book. It wasn't without its flaws. At times the pacing could've been better (too much action vs. too little answers), and in the beginning the language / dialects bothered me a bit. But on the whole I really enjoyed reading this book (I read it in only two days). Rating: ***** (9/10)
  4. Congratulations!! Well done .
  5. Argh, it's always annoying when a price suddenly goes up without warning .
  6. I'm glad you enjoyed this book, I hope you enjoy the other books in the series too .
  7. If you ask me, there's nothing wrong with enjoying a film such as Minions, as an adult . Go for it! I look forward to see it.
  8. Everything else will stay the same . It's just a matter of changing your name in the database. All your previous posts will have your new name next to them.
  9. I hope you enjoy all those you get to ! I'd be happy to read one together, that sounds like a great idea .
  10. I'm glad you liked it . Is there no option to extend the loan? In the Netherlands, at least back when I was a teenager, it was possible to ask them to extend it, if you asked them before the book was due and it was not booked by anyone else, they usually let you borrow it another 3 weeks. I hope you enjoy the book . I'm currently in chapter 37, page 237, of The Maze Runner 1: The Maze Runner by James Dashner. I'm enjoying it a lot and look forward to find out more about what's going on.
  11. Another great Steve-review! It's great you enjoyed this. P.S. I'm a little jaleous of the UK Kindle prices, you seem to get great deals sometimes. I hope you enjoy the sequel too .
  12. Thanks, both of you, for the recommendation . I really want to watch another episode, but I'm too tired right now unfortunately. But I can hardly wait to watch more of it! I look forward to see what'll happen in the series and with the characters etc. Exciting times .
  13. I agree, it really depends on how the new author works. I also thought Brandon Sanderson did a great job, but indeed there have been others who've done lesser good jobs. I guess time will tell. P.S. I feel the same way about change as some of you (see above post), but we have to wait and see really.
  14. I'm glad you're liking it so far, that's great to hear (read) ! I can imagine the touchscreen is quite different from a Kindle Keyboard, I'm glad it works well. It's also nice you can make it remember your lighting settings. It sounds like it has a lot of new features, compared to your old Kindle Keyboard, so I'm glad you're enjoying it . I'm glad you're liking the cover too, it sounds quite nice that you can put it on a stand. What colour is yours?
  15. I just finished watching the pilot episode, and it was amazing ! I really want to watch more of it soon (but I have to pace myself or I'll get too tired). It was really good, there were funny bits, there was mention of books, I really liked it !

  17. I suppose that's true . I never saw the Star Wars films when I was a child. I saw Episode I first, when I was an older teenager, then Episode II, III, IV, V and VI. Somehow I've seen Episode I several more times than the others (but it's certainly not the best one in my opinion). We're rewatching them now, I had only seen Episodes I - VI once I think. Hopefully we'll be able to watch VI soon. I also have good memories of the video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, by BioWare.
  18. Thanks Frankie !! I hope you enjoy Wonder once you can borrow it .
  19. It's very interesting to hear where everyone's forum names come from .
  20. What have I started...? Yesterday we rewatched Star Wars: Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, which I really enjoyed .
  21. That's great ! It's a shame you no longer feel like reading certain books, then it might be best to give them away . I think you should only read books you feel like reading!
