It's a bit early to mention the next weekend just yet, but while I'm here, I thought I'd mention that next weekend (10-11-12 September), so in 4-5 days (depending on your time zone etc), we have the September read-a-thon.

I'm currently reading The Evening and the Morning by Ken Follett (book 4, or 0, in the Kingsbridge series), together with a friend. We're taking the whole month to read it, just like with the earlier books in the series. I'm also reading Three Wishes by Liane Moriarty, with another friend. We read 50-ish pages a day, and should be finished in a few days. Yesterday I finished reading Firekeeper's Daughter by Angeline Boulley, which I loved.

Sorry for taking a while to get around to reading this thread. I haven't, though if I were to try it I think I'd prefer it unbuttered. I don't often eat sandwiches nowadays to be honest, as bread tends to be a bit dry for my mouth (I have a dry mouth as a side effect of medication), so I usually have something else for lunch, a salad for example. I was into puzzles/jigsaw a while ago, and bought a thing so that you could roll the puzzle up (as we didn't have enough space to keep it out on the table for really long). You have to start laying the puzzle on it and then carefully roll it up. It worked, though we only used it a few times so far and I don't think I completed the puzzle (I then went off puzzling.. ah these things happen. Maybe I'll get back to it some day. Maybe that puzzle was too hard, who knows.)). I don't recall where we bought it, but then I live in the Netherlands anyway so not sure that information would have been helpful. I put the unfitted pieces in resealable plastic bags in small plastic bowls, organised by what kind of thing was on it (it helped me during my puzzling). I put the plastic bowls in the puzzle box (the pieces were in resealable bags so they wouldn't fall out if someone were to tilt the box.

Hi itsmeagain!

Your tomatoes look great, Hayley ! I took my first ones off our tomato plant last week, they were sweet and delicious. It's the first time in my new house having a tomato plant (well, we've been living here for a year now, so it's not like I could've done it sooner lol). So far I've been leaving the tomatoes on the plant until I'm eating them, and it's been okay so far (I've had 6 so far in total, I have them in/with a salad (lettuce with other vegetables) or just on their own. My dad had one too and he really liked it as well).

The next read-a-thon is (originally) scheduled for the first weekend of September: 03 04 05 (see the first post in this topic). But it turns out, I won't be able to participate then like I usually do. So for myself, I'll probably do it the weekend after that weekend (September 10-11-12). For those of you who like to do the read-a-thon too, you're welcome to join me or to do the original weekend (it's up to you!).

I didn't know Ursula K. Le Guin has written a non-fiction / memoir type book! I'm glad it was a good read . What an interesting bit of trivia!

I really enjoyed Howl's Moving Castle too. Great review!

Oh wow.. I thought I had done the June list , I came here to do the July one. But I hadn't even done the June one! I got in a reading slump in June, after attempting to read War & Peace during the first week or so of June. The first 7 books on the list (98-104) I read during the first week-ish of June and included some re-reads, some were read during the June read-a-thon I think. I read half of book nr 105 at the end of May, then picked it back up about 2 weeks into June and read the second half while I was waiting for Windows to install (and do updates) on my new computer. Books nr 106 and 107 took me all month to read (though in the case of book 107, that was how it was planned, I read it together with a friend and since it's a long book, we planned to take the whole month to read it, a chapter per day, it has 30 chapters). I have this one on my pre-order wishlist, waiting for a medium size paperback. I'm glad it was a good read! Yes, this is in line with what I was told by someone else, it's really short and not a great read. Sorry that was your experience as well. I hope your next read will be nicer!

I hope she will be back to her usual self soon . I hope you're enjoying both of these . On Saturday I finished Tom Gates is Absolutely Fantastic (at Some Things) and Act Your Age, Eve Brown. I also read Big Nate 3: On a Roll by Lincoln Peirce and started Treehouse 4: The 52-Storey Treehouse by Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton (this was a re-read). On Sunday I finished The 52-Storey Treehouse, and I read Captain Underpants 3: Captain Underpants and the Invasion of the Incredibly Naughty Cafeteria Ladies from Outer Space (and the Subsequent Assault of the Equally Evil Lunchroom Zombie Nerds) by Dav Pilkey (a hugely long title!). Then I read Dog Man book 2, Dog Man: Unleashed, also by Dav Pilkey.
