  1. I'm sorry for being absent. I did do some reading during the read-a-thon weekend, but mostly on Thursday and Friday. Saturday and Sunday were very busy for me and I was exhausted afterwards (sensory overload), I didn't have the energy to go on the forum after. My library loans have been handed in now, in the end I managed to read 20 out of 25 (during the loan time, not all during the read-a-thon lol). Things are bad here again with Covid cases, so we're in a partial lockdown for a few weeks, and I'll be avoiding going out for a while. But I'm glad I at least got to borrow books once from the library (since 2019). Did you finish Lady Audley's Secret?
  2. I just ordered this for myself on Sunday! I'm glad you enjoyed this one! Muggle Not has been reading books in this series and he's been enjoying them too. I have them on my Kindle wishlist, I'll buy them at some point and read them, I think I will like them too .
  3. Yay for you liking the second book in the trilogy! I saw you loaned the 3rd one from your library in the book activity thread, I hope you enjoy it too! Shame the Forward books aren't free for me in NL, but I'll buy them at some point and read them since you are enjoying them.
  4. I'm glad you both had fun with the October read-a-thon! The November read-a-thon is scheduled for this upcoming weekend. I'll be busy some of the time, but I should have some time to read . I've been busy reading my library loans, so I hope to get through some of those (they are mostly children's fiction).
  5. I really liked Loveless too! I'm glad you also liked it Marie!
  6. I have the Dutch Amazon Prime, but I've never seen Amazon NL have a Kindle book free specifically for Prime Members. You Have Arrived At Your Destination is normally priced for me, shame as it sounds like a very interesting story! I think it's on my Kindle wishlist.

  9. Haha, that's nice of you. He's not much of a reader though and we don't own the book (I don't think I've got him to read anything though I have some books I think he'd enjoy if he was more into reading). Thanks, it did ! Yes, the layout is a bit different now, they moved some 'categories'/sections around, some sections are in different places now. I must go back another time to explore more, it's been so long I have been there that I was up to my maximum amount of borrowable items before I'd even come near to finish exploring .
  10. Orchard sounds interesting . I have heard of Why the Dutch are Different but I haven't read it myself. Congratulations! I agree, the songs were the worst part of it for me (and I got close to DNFing it at that time), and the Battle of the Five Armies and the stuff with Smaugh some of the best parts. I gave it a positive rating at the time overall but I don't know if I'll ever re-read it knowing I'll have to read all of the songs again (a few were good or entertaining, some were just getting too much for me and unnecessary). I'm not reading any book at the moment but I have gone to my local library today and loaned books for the first time since 2019, so I have a pile of library books to pick from for my next read.
  11. I am really excited to see it too!! Like you I have read and loved the Wheel of Time books (Raven, 14 books and 1 prequel, makes 15 together if you count the prequel as part of the series, maybe that's where you heard the number before? Most people say 14 books, but anyway..). I really hope it will be a good TV series, and I look forward to see it. The Dutch Amazon Prime has the trailer up for it, so hopefully I should be able to watch the series on there when it comes out in November (Note: there isn't as much stuff on the Dutch Amazon Prime as there is on UK's or US's, so that's why with these things I have to check sometimes if I get it here too or not, same with Netflix's regions/country differences). I showed the trailer to my other half and I think he'll want to watch it with me, so that'll be fun to watch together hopefully. I'm excited for it! (though I'm also aware that there will probably be choices made in the making of the TV series that I'll probably would have liked to have seen different, I'm sure it won't be all amazing 100% as that's very hard). Anyway.. let me know what you think, Muggle, when you've seen it (you could post a review on your blog? Or post in the Movie/TV subforum?), I don't know if they will release an episode a week or all of them at once, or what they'll do. I'm not sure I even know how many episodes will be in the first season (but hey, I should find out in November at some point). Here's hoping it will be a good TV series!
  12. The Choice and The Unit both sound like interesting concepts! Nice reviews .
  13. I didn't know Ann Cleeves had a new series out, The Long Call sounds interesting, great review .
  14. That's great ! I've heard good things about this book, I'm glad you liked it.
  15. Wow, how cool that you can look that up ! That's a lot of books . I'm glad you really liked this too! I hope you enjoy the other books in the trilogy too when you get to them (your library will hopefully have them?). I still have to read more than the trilogy and read others in the same world (Ship of Magic / Liveship Traders is the one next to read for me, from what I understood from other people it takes place in the same world but with different characters / different location), and I will but I am in the mood for other stuff lately, all in good time though .
  16. I'm so glad you are liking it so far ! I hope you and your family are doing okay, Muggle!
  17. I have the Arc of a Scythe trilogy on my TBR, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Escaping Exodus sounds good and sounds like a book I might enjoy, so I'm putting it on my wishlist.
  18. I really liked The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle and I also liked Gangsta Granny. I have heard good things about Hope and Happiness in Bluebell Wood (it's on my wishlist), I hope you enjoy all of these books!
  19. Your socks sound great . Well done ! I'm glad you are enjoying yourself, that's the most important thing . My reading: Thursday Ken Follett - Kingsbridge 4 or 0: The Evening and the Morning (read page 284 - 301) Dana Simpson - Phoebe and her Unicorn 5: Unicorn Crossing (read page 1 - 105) Friday Ken Follett - Kingsbridge 4 or 0: The Evening and the Morning (read page 302- 331) Ann M. Martin and Gabriela Epstein - The Babysitters Club Graphic Novels 9: Claudia and the New Girl (read page 1 - 165, finished) Megan Wagner Lloyd and Michelle Mee Nutter - Allergic (read page 1 - 156) Saturday Ken Follett - Kingsbridge 4 or 0: The Evening and the Morning (read page 332- 351) ... nothing else. I spent the whole day with my parents. I wouldn't have read at all if it hadn't been for my buddy read and the pages I read in that each day. Sunday Ken Follett - Kingsbridge 4 or 0: The Evening and the Morning (read page 352- 391) Megan Wagner Lloyd and Michelle Mee Nutter - Allergic (read page 157 - 239, finished) Rachael Smith - Quarantine Comix (read page 1 - 212, finished) Catana Chetwynd - In Love & Pajamas (read page 1 - 126, finished) Allessandra Olanow - I Used to Have a Plan (read page 1 - 110, finished) Rachel Lindsay - Rx (read page 1 - 252, finished) Shira Spector - Red Rock Baby Candy (read page 1 - 62) As you can see, Sunday (esp. in the later afternoon and early evening) was when I read the most and it was also the day I spent the most time reading (and when I felt most in the mood to read!). I was, unexpectedly, out all day on Saturday (and didn't bring my books with me).
  20. I did, thank you ! It does have a really pretty cover! Well remembered .
