  1. Ah hell, I'm so sorry I thought as it's a review thread, it was ok. No idea how to do that spoiler thing either. Sorry
  2. Pilchard curry tonight. Don't knock it till you've tried it just thought I'd get that in, because people usually recoil in horror. it sounds disgusting, but it's actually delicious
  3. Thanks I know I enjoyed the book and I know how I want to portray it, but it never comes out how I want it to. I usually end up with, I really enjoyed this book, or I really didn't like this book
  4. I'm not very good at reviews, I can never put into words what I want to portray but I'll try a little. Finished this last week, and I really liked it. It wasn't blow your mind fantastic, but an enjoyable read. I loved the inner village politics. Having grown up in the country, I could see the characters played out in our little village. Very entertaining.
  5. Loosely, very loosely, related to a cacciatore tonight. Loosely because the only limp looking vegetables in the fridge were some curly kale and sweetcorn, so it'll do. Great to get back to proper healthy cooking tomorrow, when the shopping comes with more vegetables
  6. Barbara Cartland I avoid like the plague, even when I was silly romantic teenager who loved mills and boons because she thought they were real life, I never read Barbara Cartland, vile books! Also Jodi Picoult, and I realise I am in the minority there. I have read many of her books and find them all to be basically the same, sickly sweet feel good story that bores me. Always open minded though, I will still give her a try if someone recommends one of hers, but if anyone recommends Barbara Cartland, I will actively avoid them Not really into sci fi, wasn't really into fantasy until a stephen lawhead book was book of the month at the library a few months back, and really enjoyed it, so revising my opinion on that too.
  7. Deeply Odd by Dean Koontz, just love the Odd Thomas books. And The Kill Room by Jeffery Deaver and Dexter's Debut by Jeff Lindsay.
  8. I used to read a few Shaun Hutson books, one of his set off really bad morning sickness after reading it. He had a really sick mind. After he had children though, he tamed down his ideas and wrote a couple of phychological thrillers which were quite enjoyable. I think I'll look this up, sounds interesting.
  9. Hopefully lasagna today. If the asda delivery delivers things I need. As it's after Christmas they will probably be back to normal now, missing things off, tonnes of unavailable items. It's nice at christmas, they always deliver everything. Um... I'm waffling again aren't I! :/
  10. Stephen Lawhead is a great author, really does his research well. His books are not usually ones that would interest me to be honest, but one of his was book of the month at the library a few months back so I gave it a go, and was spellbound. It was Tuck, which I didn't realise at the time was not the first in a 3 parter about the Robin hood saga, but I enjoyed it so much I got the rest, and enjoyed them I looked up more, and enjoyed Taliesin so I'm now on the Pendragon series. Fantasy isn't my favourite genre but I may revise that, when I get onto different authors always looking for more inspiration
  11. I'm a Dean Koontz girl, although I love most of Stephen King's too, but I find that Dean Koontz's style just keeps me turning the pages, whereas SK i have to really work at it to enjoy it IYKWIM I find SK a bit waffly at times too.
  12. I've only abandoned one last year, I wanted to try The Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie, just to see what all the fuss was about. While I loved the story and the idea. I got completely lost in the second part and ended up getting frustrated with myself for not understanding it. I'll try it again sometime but I've got so many books to read, I don't know when I'll get round to it.
