  2. For the first time EVER, I have been at the very beginning of a new series and I must say, I love it AND WOT! I'm on episode 4. Even tho they air on Friday nights, I make myself wait til Sunday afternoon to watch. It's my weekly treat. the cast is really impressive and I can say I'm hooked!
  3. The Temptations, Silent Night. Christmas doesn't truly begin until I hear this song for the first time during the holiday season.
  4. It will ALWAYS be A Christmas Story for me!
  5. I thought about that. I really want them to dump a bunch of episodes. But then I'd watch them all and wait impatiently for the next season! Just realized that I have the books and have yet to crack one open. Maybe I need to do that now. hmmm.
  6. I bought several plain stockings and have started decorating them with Christmassy things. I also got a few decorations and I maaaayyyyyy have pulled out the Christmas tree, but I'll deny it if you question me.
  7. Anybody as excited about the new series, Wheel of Time coming to Amazon on Friday? I can't wait!! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09F5KBXB6/?ref=DVM_US_DL_SL_GO_AST_21WOFT_mkw_sovyT2Tg1-dc&mrntrk=pcrid_556441649206_slid__pgrid_135825740064_pgeo_9010447_x__ptid_kwd-948850384008&gclid=CjwKCAiA7dKMBhBCEiwAO_crFP9rsKvz_fKS1_ahRkTVH5vO-grAnKfxZ2bprt5XDMYdH3jWjzI7RxoCG8wQAvD_BwE
  8. I made out really well. The outage brought home how dependent our businesses rely on these three social media platforms. Many businesses felt the burn and I'm wondering if they are now rethinking their business models. I'm actually in the process of setting up my real estate business online but I'm thinking I will not rely on FB, Whatsapp or Instagram as my only means of reaching the masses. Am I the only one that finds it strange that the outage happened as soon as the FB whistleblower made herself known? I wonder how much cleaning up they did? Methinks it's a bit too late as she already has thousands of recipes for their transgressions.
  9. How are you all making out with Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp being down today? I've got other things I can peruse that fell to the wayside so it's really nice to actually go back to some of my favorite blogs.
  10. I mean, I GUESS, if I'm taking more than one of my grands to the movies, plus popcorn and a drank, I could spend more. It's just the idea of spending that amount on one movie. Makes no sense but I can't do it! LMBO!!
  11. Question, I'd anyone going into theaters to watch movies or are you paying lots of money to stream movies? Here in the States it's about $30.
  12. I was wondering if anyone has heard from James (Vodkafan)? He's been radio silent for almost a year.

      Hello Virginia I am here!

  13. I just realized that I posted years ago as Katrina1968! Anyway, what I've found is that during each and every reading, I have learned to dislike Anna more than the last time. I'm over 50 and find that while she's caged by societal norms, she's selfish and self-centered. She cheats on her husband and then ridicules him for being who he's always been. She disrespects this man's home (I say HIS home because she obviously doesn't want to be there). She wreaks havoc with whomever she comes in contact with. And she refuses to truly take responsibility of any of her actions. When Dolly told her she was just like her brother, she was offended, after just telling her sister-in-law that she should forgive him. I've no doubt that Anna dealt with mental health issues, but I am of the mind that they came on after her decision to begin her affair with Vronsky. She was the classic "shoot herself in the foot" damsel who, even when originally given the way out of her marriage, chose to stay as some form of punishment. And then when she wanted her freedom, it was too late. Everything she did was over the top. Other women took many lovers but Anna was what we call "extra." And I have no patience with her. Levin also managed to work a nerve. He was morose, self-absorbed, and whiney. I was particularly disgusted when he and, (was it Steva or his brother?) were discussing the need for a school and hospital. His only concern was how it would affect HIS pocket and that HIS future children wouldn't use either so why the need? He could only care about another in as much as they came under his sphere of familial love. I get wanting and needing to secure the wellbeing of your family, but as he was in the position of a landowner, he did have responsibilities to the people working his estate. He cared about them only because they were a necessity to keep the farm running. I think in the end, Tolstoy wanted to show us how the "wrong" love can lead us down the path of ruin and "good love" can lead us to a sort of heaven on earth. Anna vs Kitty and Vronsky vs Levin, darkness, and light
  14. Cicely Tyson, age 96. You know that they are "old" and you know that they can't be around forever, but even so, when they transition, it's still an utter shock. She was an AMAZING actress and I believe that had she been British, she would have become a Dame.
  15. What's everyone doing for dinner today? I'm doing oxtail stew. I've been wanting them for eons but they've been harder to get than hen milk. I was doing my online grocery shopping when I came across some at my local grocer's so I hopped on them. I love the savory, richness of the meat. I'll add potatoes and onions and make a side of collard/turnip greens. The weather is UCK, with rain, and cold. Perfect for this particular comfort food. What's in YOUR pot?
  16. Cold, wet, and rainy. I'm slothing around in our bedroom watching reruns of Midsomer Murders. When I get tired of this cozy, murder mystery, I'll find another.
  17. I'm also doing Columbo. I just love a good mystery and what I love most about Columbo is that the murderer is shown at the beginning of the show and how he goes about "finding" the killer. I don't think I can go back to modern shows.
  18. I'm always watching KUP and I just found the spin off of Are you Being Served, where they live on a manor in their retirement. Its a hoot! I need to revisit VoD having watched that in years.
  19. We've got 2, count them, TWO hurricanes making touchdown within hours of each other in the same location. What the 2020?!
  20. I keep promising myself that I'd start Black Adder. May need to go do that! I LOVE Northern Exposure! I actually waited almost a MONTH to get copies from the library (once they opened back up). Unfortunately, I'm missing season 2 and I think I like that season best!
  21. Do you find yourself now going back and re-watching old shows now that corona has movie/shows productions are down? Iknow I'm finding myself revisiting some oldies like Hart of Dixie, Gilmore Girls, LOTR, HP, Married with Children, My Name Is Earl, Murder She Wrote, etc. What are you bringing out the vault?
  22. Thank you for responding. I never got my notification. Ugh. Anyway, Right now I just want to get as many recipes as I can and then I'll cull them out. Once I get that figured out, I'll then go on to finding the recipes if they are available.
  23. Our weather here in South Carolina (USA) has been VERY mild this August. I mean, it's normally a "real feel" of about 100'f here, but it's been low 80's. Low 80's is generally the start of the fall season as it doesn't get "cold" until sometime in October. I really shouldn't be surprised. It IS 2020.
  24. Last month I was listening to a Rick Steve's European Podcast. He did an interview with a woman 195 weeks providing a recipe from every country, for her family. I was so intrigued that I decided to do this for our grands (and us) to incorporate with some geography and history. I was wondering if our non American members can list some relatively easy recipes that we may be able to try? Maybe a little background to go with it? Thanks!
  25. I'm watching The Lion In Winter. I love Richard Burton and Katherine Hepburn in this movie. Royalty with peasant tendencies, lol!
